Re: It is amazing how 'common' this is today..placid_chaosApril 3 2003, 06:02:22 UTC
I have been talking to people and many told me that, parents of special needs kids are constantly being investigated--especially if their needs are severe. With me, I have 3 so, it is ASSuMEd that I am overwhelmed.
I admit that, there are days I am. It lasts about 1 hour total and then, I am fine. I certainly don't take it out on the kids! I come down here, to my dungeon room in basement and either cry or bang on the keyboard!
I can't believe they are dumb enough to know that, Sean drools and his shirt is dirty because of that. Do they want me to make it worse by putting a bib around him? Plus, he is severely allergic to many dyes and perfumes. I can't use certain types of bleach. I can't bleach his socks. I have to use baking soda instead, so our socks aren't bright white--but, they are clean! (What is weird is, he can swim in the pool as long as the chlorine isn't too high).
I wish these people had been around when I was little and abuse was called DISCIPLINE! My grandmother used a metal spatula on my bare butt and, many times caused red blisters! If I lied, she would pull out her Avon soaps (she sold the stuff, door to door then) and made me eat a good amount of it--I would then have diarrhea for a couple of days!
No wonder kids are so bad now adays. They know that, you have no control over them any more. Someone else always gets involved and everything is considered abuse!
I give up on this world--it has gone bonkers!
Thank you so much for your support--this is the only place I can vent!

Vent away, that is why I am here. Your right about discipline. Today kids just run wild. It's really sad. They will grow up to be leachers, instead of law-abiding functional adults who can support themselves.(sigh) But yours will.:O)And so will mine.:O) Hang in there sweetie!! BIG HUGS
