The Holy Power of the Virgin, Athens, Greece

Courtesy of system1988 , this Greek Orthodox church in Athens has been preserved beneath a building.
The former Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs has been built above it without destroying it (that was the plan after all) because the church is a historical monument. The church itself is called the "The Holy Power of The Virgin" and is dedicated to Mary's birth. According to the tradition, the power of the Virgin guarded pregnant women. Unfortunately the temple has been falsely preserved. I was able to take photos of it as well as its interior where only a few magnificent 16th century drawings are being saved. The monument though seems abandonded even though it is very popular due to its location (city centre). The temple was  bulit over an even more ancient Greek temple dedicated to the Ilissus's (the river) Muses.
