The Cathedral of the Archangel Michael in the Kremlin is the first cathedral to be built in Nizhny Novgorod. It was first built in wood when city was founded in 1221 and was rebuilt in stone in 1227. The Cathedral has the typical contours of the Vladimir and Suzdal architecture the XIII century.
