I'm sleepy. I was out late last night with a friend. She and I had dinner before going over to Barnes and Noble to have drinks and talk. I had fun. I was also rather... bad. She wanted to eat at TGI Fridays and I'd had just a salad for lunch. Bear with me as I use their marketing name for this thing: Dippable Cheesy Bacon Cheeseburger. I prefer to think of it as a dairy-man's wet dream. It was a hamburger with two slices of American cheese, bacon, a disc of fried Provolone, and a chipotle queso dipping sauce. I guess that I had the fries as well is really a moot point. Afterward we shared a small sampler box of Godiva chocolates.
Am I ashamed? Hell no. Yes, I ate more calories than I should have. And I didn't get my exercise for the day in. It doesn't matter. This is a lifestyle change, not a class project. Missing an exercise session here or there isn't a big deal. Eating a large meal once in a while is actually a good thing. And the mental effects of being out with a very sweet friend should not be forgotten. A few hours out was exactly what I needed. Will I pay for the night? Yeah. I'll be eating a salad tonight instead of tasty pizza. I'll be working extra hard on the bike tomorrow. All in all, last night was a big positive in my book. Besides, eating that burger was sort of like exercising my heart from the inside.
And now I get to look forward to Salad Night with some friends.
