Kumatora Personality:
Kumatora is spunky and forthright. The player first meets her in Osohe Castle while laying as Duster. At the time, Kumatora's leg is caught in a trap, and just as Duster and his father Wess arrive, she is on the verge of simply amputating her leg to free herself. She is typically impatient, often to the point of recklessness. In another moment later in the game, she knocks out the two guards at Club Titiboo (whom she describes as "not exactly bad guys") probably just for the likelihood that they would get in the way when she, Lucas and Duster tried to leave. Fortunately, Kumatora is a tough girl, so she is more apt to handle and survive the instances of danger she brings upon herself. It's also likely that the calmer and more stable members of the party--Duster and Lucas--are able to keep her recklessness in check when they travel together.
When speaking, Kumatora tends to be direct and informal. She speaks bluntly, even to strangers, and doesn't appear to have much of a filter. Initially, she is rather rude to Duster the first time they meet, getting right into his face and telling him that his breath smells. Kumatora is not purposefully cruel in her forthrightness, though. Usually, she simply says what's on her mind and saves the meaner insults for those who she believes deserves them. One such person is Fassad, who she repeatedly calls a "cheap bastard." In any case, it's likely that Kumatora's rough socialization skills stem from how she was brought up. She was raised by the Magypsy Ionia, probably in relative isolation. This means she probably had little interaction with most people beyond Ionia and the other Magypsies. Especially at the time when Duster first encounters her, concepts like personal space are probably somewhat foreign.
Much of Kumatora's personality traits seem to have developed counter to those displayed by the Magypsies. While the typical Magypsy speaks and acts very feminine, Kumatora actively avoids things she regards as "girly." During the time skip in the game, Kumatora works undercover as a waitress at Club Titiboo to keep an eye on a band member there whom she believes to be an amnesiac Duster. Since the waitresses are required to act in a certain air-headed, feminine way, she does not care for the job. Note, though, that this does show a fair amount of willpower on her part, as she is able to keep the job for some time while playing the role convincingly. The job probably also presented an opportunity for her to improve her social skills. Once she, Duster and Lucas are reunited, though, she is more than ready to abandon the post with a shout of "outta my way, dammit!" to those in her path.
However, while outwardly objecting the "girliness" of the Magypsy Ionia, she was still raised to live with love and compassion. For Kumatora's part, it's usually tough love. She may shout at Lucas and be vulgar around him, but on a deeper level, she shows him steady, unrelenting support. It's also clear that she cares a lot for Ionia, as she takes on a fittingly sad expression when the Magypsy disappears after his needle is pulled. She is also very empathetic toward Salsa, the monkey who is being abused by Fassad. In part because of her ability to psychically communicate with animals, she is the one to discover the awfulness in Fassad's character. She then does all she can to help Salsa escape from his captor. Also, despite having just met him, she defends Duster from Wess's overly harsh criticism. All in all, Kumatora has an innate sense of justice and caring, and a strong urge to help and support her friends and good people in general. This, more than anything else, is at the core of her character.
Abilities:
Kumatora uses PSI, which is essentially psychic magic. Her specialty is offensive PSI, with fire, ice and thunder varieties being the standard, though at later levels she learns other more powerful attacks. Kumatora also learns some healing PSI, and other PSI that causes status effects such as sleep or paralysis. She can also communicate with animals telepathically and fight hand-to-hand using PSI-assisted agility and strength.
