AmpersandOS
I am writing a new operating system from scratch. It will be a sort of evolved version of Paradigm OS, which some of you will remember. It will feature the following:
- Open/Closed-source hybrid code
- Flexible API
- Modular; portable to different platforms
- Customizable; user can even choose his/her own interface
- Secure; boot-level user authentication
- Compatible: Windows, DOS, UN*X, and other OS's executables are (hopefully) going to run flawlessly alongside their contemporary native apps
- Morphable: Run your word processor on your desktop, transfer your letter to your mother to a PDA and edit it using the very same program--in the palm of your hand.
Target platforms: IBM PCs and Compatibles, ARM, MIPS, SH3/SH4, XScale, and OMAP-based PDAs, as well as the PowerPC and 68k Macintoshes
