Is it February yet? I'm so ready for January to be over. I want to move on.
Alright, onto the reviews. I actually finished these in December, so these reviews have been a long time coming.
I was so excited to watch Aiba in another drama! Especially one where he takes care of animals. This had to be one of his favorite projects to work on! I know I would have loved it if I had his role. Being able to interact with so many cute animals for my job would be heavenly!
The drama as a whole did not have a steady plot throughout, but there were themes that streamed from episode to episode. One of the main roles, Kase Tokiwa, had been missing her husband after he went over seas seven years previous and he turned up missing. Tokiwa and her son lived on without him, even though they wondered if he would ever come back home, or if they heard other news. Aiba's role, Kouenji Tatsuya, inherited a small, run down animal clinic from a family member. The building was out dated and tucked away in corner in the middle of bundling Japanese city. Yet, people took their pets there for the care.
Each episode had it's own plot, as I said before. Some I was able to cling onto with interest, others I didn't care for so much. But I didn't stop liking the show. The characters were worth getting into. The drama itself was nice and kind of chill. Kind of one where you didn't get too emotionally invested in, but it had a slow pace that you could follow. It would be a nice one to watch after seeing one that made your heart burst.
All in all, I wish the ending was different than they played it out. Yet, you kind of wondered how things were going to tie up, and if they were just going to leave things hanging the way they did. If everyone had their way, that is. I'm not going to spoil anything, just that I wish things played out differently because I felt sad for a couple of the characters.
If you love Aiba, or animals, or both, then this is the drama for you. You get a two for one!
I rated this drama a 7.5 out of 10.
I was surprised when I picked this one up. I also thought it would be a quick one to get through, but not at all! This was another slow and chill drama, but not in a bad way. The concept of the story intrigued me. The main role of the story runs a diner and opens at midnight and closes at 7 am. For those crazy Japanese workaholics who like to work late and don't want to go home right away, or at all.
The theme song at the beginning was very lovely. It kind of reminded me of Mushi-Shi. In fact a lot of the show reminded me of Mushi-Shi. It seemed to have the same theme anyway. Even the main guy had a scar on his face like the main guy in Mushi-Shi. Plus, every episode had it's own plot as the main guy sits and listens to everyone else's problems while they try and figure things out. Not that I minded. But by the end of the series, you'll get to know each of the characters since they all visit the diner frequently. One of the main reasons why I started watching this one was because of Tabe Mikako. Although, she was only in one episode: the last one.
I gave this drama a 7 out of 10.
Now, I'm back on track and on the hunt for another jdrama. I think this venture might be a hard one since I don't feel as motivated. Thus, the hunt is on!
Until next time!
