So it's been a few months since I've even thought about this journal. It's just been so damn busy, and I really am getting sick and tired of being sick and tired. My health isn't doing any better, and the tradeoff is that I have money in the bank. Well, I guess it isn't that much of a tradeoff. I'd rather have my health, thank you very much.
So the decision has come down.
At the end of this month, I will be leaving my job, taking a month or two off to get healthy and then go out and find something else to do.
Oh, and my wife and I are also looking into Foster parenting. We have the room in our house, and I think it would be good to do this. I don't know, I guess after working for such a greedy, soulless corporation for the past nine years, I feel I need to do something worthwhile. My wife saves lives and cares for the sick on a daily basis (even when she isn't at work). Me? I help this huge Greed Machine perpetuate itself as it ruins lives and sucks up more and more money. That just doesn't seem worthwhile to me anymore. I guess I'm just sick of the Rat Race. I've seen the blood and feces on the walls of this maze too many times. There isn't any fucking cheese; there never was. We just run and run and run until there's nothing left but bones, blood and shit. There's no real heart or soul, it's just a big, fake smile they put on for the public.
I haven't told my boss yet, I'm kind of waiting for a rather inopportune moment, like while she's telling me how I need to switch shifts or stay 4 hours over with no extra pay so I can attend some training bullshit meeting. Then I'll just look at her and say, "No. I quit. You have two weeks to get it together, and then I'm Casper."
Except that I'm not really that friendly.
I did find out that I lost over 25lbs since late January. I guess that's something to be proud of. Maybe someday I'll be back down to a more manageable weight.
I have discovered that I can fool most of my friends with a combination of ground turkey and ground chicken. For some reason, if I mix those two, they can't tell the difference between it and ground beef, other than it being less greasy. But don't get me wrong--I still like my ground beef now and then. Sometimes all you need is the right spices or seasoning.
This weekend, though, is Toilet Replacement. Our main toilet has finally taken a shit, and we're just kind of coaxing it along until we both have a day off so we can buy a new one and replace this one. Although I'm kind of hesitant to get rid of it, the damn thing must be from 1964. Antique toilet, anyone? Makes a great planter for those of you with cars parked on your lawns.
You know who you are.
