So it's been a few months since my last update, and a lot is happening right now.
We have decided to get the hell out of our rental house and buy a house of our own. We started this early last month, and things are not getting any better. We've found two houses that we wanted to look at a second time and possibly put a bid on, and they were scooped up out from under our noses. My wife takes it a little harder than I do, as I am kind of expecting it. That's my pessimism shining through like a big piece of petrified shit.
Speaking of shit, we saw a house that made us both crazy with anger and frustration. It was completely fucking wrecked by the people who lived there before. They took an axe to the kitchen, punched holes in the walls with fuck-all knows what, and someone took a huge shit in the middle of the living room carpet. The place had been found abandoned in March of last year, which means that it could very well have been abandoned for several months if not longer, according to our realtor.
Otherwise, it's been a non-stop parade of seeping basements and small kitchens, small yards, small this that and the other thing. It's quite frustrating, to tell the truth.
I kind of like going into the unoccupied houses better. Going into the houses where people are living, I feel like I'm interrupting or invading their privacy. I know I felt that way when my folks were selling the houses we used to live in. But I guess that's just how you have to do things.
We looked at a house in Downtown Buffalo that was nice, but the upstairs floors were all buckled and warped. It was in a nice neighborhood, but the floors...Oh, man. It was like a mini-rollercoaster.
The good thing about all of this is that it's getting us out to different areas, and we're learning our way around a little better. We're also trying new restaurants now and then, since "we're in the neighborhood, so let's give it a whirl."
Hopefully, this will all be over soon. It's making my migranes come back.
