Hey all! I wanted some help figuring out what these plush are. I bought them as Candy Planet prototype plush. The seller thought they were supposed to be candy holders. Which, yeah at first glance, maybe. BUT with having them in hand and seeing they take batteries, I'm no longer convinced they're from Candy Planet. Only the smaller Pikachu works and it vibrates. There is also no way to get candy in or out unless it's tiny and can fit through a small rectangle hole.
Plush #1: Charmander
Charmander is just a straight up goober with his expression. I haven't seen a Charmander look like him before (even in bootleg or mirage). His inner workings are cracked and look like someone tried taking out the plastic parts. His belly window is plastic and I'm unsure if it was purposely blurry or from age.
Plush #2: Pikachu
Pikachu is the same as Charmander. It has a hazy plastic belly window and a working vibrating motor.
The closest plush I've seen that could be the released version is this pull string vibrating plush:
Plush #3: Pikachu
This bigger Pikachu has a random half Masterball from the 1999 Tomy line in its belly. It also has a pretty significant sized inside motor which makes me believe it's also a vibrating plush. I cannot fully confirm that as it doesn't turn on and I'd have to cut open the plush to see the inner part. It also has white velvet stickers on its eyes.
It looks similar to this vibrating plush:
My conclusion of these is they are early vibrating plush for Tomy or Hasbro. Their bellies were supposed to serve as rattles with little bits inside rattling around as it moves. That's the only thing that makes sense out of them. They could be odd mirage plush but I am leaning towards they're more official due to how high quality the sewing is on these and the mechanisms. I've seen some interesting mechanics in mirage plush. Lol
(I do know TPCi used to send out prototype plush to other companies that them turned them into something else or used them as references. This happened with the Pokemon Live show. The puppet makers had prototype plush that were references for their puppets and were told to trash them! Thankfully they stored them.) So it's possible these are from Tomy or Hasbro and sent Candy Planet.
I'd love to hear others' thoughts as well!
Hope everyone has a great day/night!
