HUGEEE Collection Update!!

Sep 04, 2023 10:25

Hi everybody! :D

It's been wayyy longer than I initially planned since my last collection update, so this one is going to be super beefy! Hopefully that makes it entertaining at least. In today's post, I'm going to feature my usual kinds of gets, and then in a near-future post, I'll share gets from my trip to Japan for the World Championships!!

First up, I'd like to share some amazing plush that I've gotten since my last post!

This wonderful Charizard Tomy recall plush is from the equally wonderful mayziken! Mayziken mentioned how Charizard felt right-off-the-shelf mint and WOW that's a perfect description!! It's so much softer than I imagined it would be, and it really made me feel like I was transported back in time when I opened the package! I can't believe that I've added this plush in such beautiful condition to my collection!

I couldn't resist buying this Treecko from Mayziken too! It's not as soft as Charizard (which would be very hard to achieve in general), but it's still just as perfect! I never bought the Hasbro-distributed version of this plush when I saw it on the shelves during the Hoenn era, so it feels great to add the very original version of the plush to my collection!

I was awful at keeping up with MPC releases when they were new, so you'd think that I would have made a better effort to get the ones I wanted the most once they popped up more frequently on the secondhand market, but NOPE. Thankfully, I was able to buy this Charizard MPC for a great price off of US Mercari this year! I love its silly pose.

There was no way that I could escape the release of the 5th generation Sitting Cuties without buying a bunch of lovely new friends! I had to get the Haxorus line because I love them so much. I don't think I fully understand their design vision with Haxorus's neck, but I still think it's very cute haha!

I was originally going to skip out on Blitzle and Zebstrika because I don't even side-collect them, but I loved them so much while playing BW so I eventually caved, and I'm really glad I did! It's so interesting that they made Zebstrika's tail ornament fully 3D. I DO side-collect Sandile and Krookodile, so they were instant buys! Krookodile's snout is all droopy, but I think that adds cuteness!

I might have accidentally created Fuecoco and Sprigatito side collections WOOPS. They're just so cute and perfect! Here we have their mascot plush and Pokemon Dolls plush! My original reasoning for purchasing the mascot plush was that it would satisfy my need for plush of them (mostly so I wouldn't buy the regular-sized Pokemon Center plush) and that didn't happen at all haha. The Pokemon Dolls are amazing, and Fuecoco is SO SQUISHY. I've also spliced in a picture of my Shiny Zorua Pokemon Center plush that I couldn't resist buying as well! Official Shiny merch is a huge weakness of mine.

Next, here's a selection of some of my most exciting recent miscellaneous gets!

I had been looking for this puzzle featuring Flygon for YEARS before skydramon posted a JP Mercari link to one on Discord and I was super excited to jump on ordering it! The artwork is incredible and I'm a little sad that it was never used for anything else (to my knowledge)!

The release of Ruby and Sapphire was a really exciting time for me, but I was unfortunately unable to preorder Ruby and I missed out on this AMAZING coin. I've looked at listings for it off and on for many years, but it was never a priority to buy. With the 20th anniversary of Ruby and Sapphire's release in the US passing by on March 19th this year, I decided to treat myself to finally purchasing this coin! The plastic over the coin has bubbled over time (not sure what that's about), but I got it for a nice deal and you can see the 3D Groudon perfectly, so it doesn't bother me! I love glancing over at my shelf to see it proudly displayed.

Continuing with the coin theme, I finally bought this lovely set of Lord of the Unknown Tower Patchin! I love collecting Patchin, and the movie-related ones are some of the most fun!!

In related Third Movie news, I also won auctions for these awesome straps that were released to promote the movie! Maybe it's dumb, but any merch with Unown that spell "ENTEI" makes me feel super happy. Big thanks to primaldialga493 for linking me to a new auction for the Unown strap when I lost the first one!

For the final (I think) set of Third Movie goodies in this post, I was able to get these incredible charm sets with the help of SabiWolf! It's so fun to see Mie and Rin's teams all together in charm form, and the Entei charm set comes with an Unown "ENTEI" tag so you know I love it very much. And spliced on top is a small Entei eraser set that I purchased from Yahoo! Auctions Japan! I love that they paired him with Fast Balls for the aesthetic.

I missed several good deals for this clock on US eBay, so with Ailixa's help, I was able to take advantage of a deal on JP Mercari! I've always had trouble importing watches and clocks from Japan, so it was really nice to not have to deal with it myself haha! This clock was a free lottery prize and the quality of the clock hands kinda show that fact, which is a little disappointing (they are very flimsy and I had to install them myself on a peg that wasn't clicking into place properly). Once I finally carefully got them installed though, it keeps time nicely and looks really awesome!

This waist bag/fanny pack was a super cool find on Yahoo! Auctions Japan! I love things from this era of merch (the bag is from 2002), and the silhouettes of popular Pokemon here are so iconic and lovely. The camo color scheme is fun too!

I absolutely love collecting notebooks and notepads, so these were a must-add to my collection! On the left, we have a vibrant and beautiful Hoenn celebration, including a Deoxys surprise behind the Latias and Latios pages (don't worry, they flip down without damaging the notepad)! Thanks so much to primaldialga493 for splitting a notepad lot with me so I could add this to my collection!! On the right, we have the notepad version of one of my favorite Pokemon Center promotion artworks! It's so fun that Charizard and Blaziken have their own notepad layers to create a dynamic 3D scene. Thanks so much to skydramon for sharing the link to this notepad on Discord!

I still can't believe I added this notebook to my collection: a new in package Johto-themed Pokemon Center notebook from 2002!! The artwork on this notebook is amazing and includes a few Pokemon I collect. It's funny to see that they forgot to color in Politoed's yellow lower jaw! I really want to know what the pages look like, but I'm struggling with the decision of opening it!

I love this era's Pokemon Center artwork of the Kanto starters, so I had to get these notebooks! Both were pointed out to me by primaldialga493, and he even helped me get the one on the right by adding it to his proxy order! Thanks so much again for helping me add these to my collection, Oliver!! I don't think you can tell in the picture, but the one on the left is SUPER sparkly and that is wonderful.

Here we have two notepads from two very different eras: the amazing Tyranitar and cool friends notepad on the left from the early 2000s and the wonderful Shuckle shirt notepad from 2020! I'm working my way toward collecting every item featuring the artwork on the left and it feels amazing to see it together! Also I very badly want the actual Shuckle shirt, but this notepad will have to suffice haha!

Another pair from different eras: the Tyranitar and Larvitar eraser set that promoted Pikachu's Exciting Hide-and-seek/Celebi: The Voice of the Forest, along with the Munchlax/Shuckle wooden keychain from 2022! I love that Larvitar and Tyranitar were often used together to promote the 4th movie and its short, and Shuckle looks so happy hanging out with Munchlax!

These buttons have alluded me for a while, and I am so happy to finally add them to my collection! On the left, we have some super cool buttons released to celebrate Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution. I didn't love this movie admittedly, but I very much love that it allowed Clone Charizard a chance to get some merch!! On the right, we have a Charizard button from the 2019 Pokemon Center x Yusuke Murata promotion that has escaped me until now! I was in Japan shortly after this promotion released and didn't get a single Charizard button when I purchased blind boxes, so it feels great to finally add this one to my collection!

I finally took advantage of an opportunity to add more Pokemon Local Acts merch to my collection! Here we have a Torkoal/Exeggutor can badge from Ebino City in Miyazaki Prefecture, along with a Charizard keychain from Ogasawara Village! I love how the rim of the can badge makes it look like it's in asphalt. I had a little bit of trouble getting the Charizard keychain and I was super relieved when it actually arrived at my proxy's warehouse! I had multiple listings with good prices saved and jumped on the cheapest one, only to get a message a couple weeks later that the seller never sent it and my money was refunded. When I went back to the other listings I had saved, they were sold so I was sad. But thankfully, another listing popped up a couple weeks after that! I adore the fact that Mew is hanging out in the background as a shadow here!

I never realized how BIG these tins were! I was expecting them to be more like the size on the right in this picture, but that just gives me an easier time of admiring the artwork haha! The one on the left was part of a promotion for FireRed and LeafGreen and I love the artwork so much. They all look like they're about to have the best adventure ever!! The one on the right alluded me for years before I was finally able to win an auction for it with Ailixa's help! Its artwork is absolutely incredible and lively. I love how everybody is partying outside of a Pokemon Center, and the art style is so wonderful!!

This tin is one of the true jewels of my collection, so it gets a whole 4-panel image to itself!! As far as I've experienced, this tin very rarely pops up for sale and typically either sells super quickly on JP Mercari or gets a large bid on Yahoo! Auctions Japan. I feel extremely lucky to have won the auction at a great price! Thanks so much to RioluPup on Discord for posting the link to the auction and to primaldialga493 for tagging me about it!! This tin's artwork is absolutely PERFECT. All of the Pokemon are off on a mission to somewhere, and there are SO MANY excellent ones here. I am reminded of Destiny Deoxys by seeing Blastoise, Blaziken, Plusle, Minun, and Munchlax here; we've got some Lucario and the Mystery of Mew representation with Lucario, Mime Jr., and Bonsly; and of course we have Charizard, Donphan, Sceptile, and Ampharos representing my personal favorites!! They all bring a huge smile to my face whenever I look at the tin!

I never thought I'd own this poster because whenever I saw it go up for sale, it would be stupidly expensive and also framed already (making it very difficult to ship all the way here), so when I saw this one without a frame and for a great deal, I bought it immediately! This artwork is absolutely precious and I still can't believe it's happily hanging on the wall in my bedroom (also please excuse the glare and reflection in the picture frame)!!

I LOVE collecting items from the first generation of Pokemon that embody the excitement of the time, and these books that SabiWolf helped me get are truly perfect ways to scratch that collection itch. On the left, we have a Pokedex book in an INCREDIBLE slip cover with an imagining of what a transparent Pokedex would've looked like (one of my favorite 90s tech aesthetics of course). On the right, we have a set of three books that represent every Pokemon in the Kanto Pokedex as a funny (generally slapstick) comic.

The Pokedex book itself loses the cool transparent tech vibe, but retains a regular Pokedex vibe so that's okay! It comes with several extras, including a sticker for every Kanto Pokemon to track your Pokedex progress; a HUGEEE poster with a neat 3D render of Kanto on the left and attack, item, and other listings around it; and a game-accurate map of Kanto with information for each city and Gym Leader. I was super happily surprised to see how many incredible extras were included!! Looking at them makes me want to re-play Red.

Here's the back of the Red Pokedex comic book, which continues the GameBoy Pocket aesthetic and includes a piece of adorable Charmander artwork! The Green and Blue ones have similar designs with their respective matching starters. And to the right, I've included a picture of the Charizard comic to give you an idea of what they look like! If you're itching to see a specific one, I'll happily take a picture for you.

Next up, some figures!

From left to right we have: the Charizard grabby figure, the new Tyranitar Bikkura Tamago figure, the Charmander Petit/Puchi Chara figure, and the Larvitar Pillow gacha figure! I love all of these figures so much, and I was especially surprised about how large the Larvitar pillow figure is!

Petit/Puchi Chara figures were designed to keep you company while you play your GBA by hanging out in one of your GBA's accessory slots, so I thought you'd enjoy seeing a picture of Charmander adorning my Spice Orange GBA! It looks so cheerful on there!

Finally, as is tradition, I want to end this post with some VERY EXCITING ChibiPokeHouse gets!

In my last post, I featured this PikaPika Starry Sky Camp playset and mentioned the gacha sets featured on the back. As luck would have it, I had the opportunity to add those very gacha sets to my collection shortly after that post!! Most of the items were still sealed when they arrived to me, but I decided to open at least the tracks and track accessories because it's way more fun to display them all set up with my PikaPika Starry Sky Camp ChibiPokeHouse. I'm going to keep the Pokemon figures themselves sealed though! I think it's so fun that the train is wind-up-powered, and that you can add more cars to it.

The last two parts of the gacha set are the train station and the tunnel! There are stickers that should go on the train station but I haven't worked up the courage to use them yet (my hands get unsteady when it really counts haha).

I was also super excited to finally add these two second generation ChibiPokeHouse sets to my collection!! On the left we have New Bark Town/Professor Elm's Laboratory, and on the right we have the second generation Forest (the anime version of Ilex Forest, maybe? Since there's no water in the game version as I recall haha)!

Close-up shots of each side of the New Bark Town/Professor Elm's Laboratory set! The details are awesome, and I love that they even included the translucent red dome thing in Elm's lab. When you press the lever on top of the computers in the lab, the screens go down to reveal different ones!

Close-up shots of each side of the Forest set! I love that Poliwag and Psyduck are hanging out in the water sticker, and the forest colors are so vibrant!

And my most exciting recent ChibiPokeHouse get is...

SHAMOUTI ISLAND AHHHHH! I've wanted this playset ever since I saw it on the original Pokemon Center NY web store, and it feels surreal to finally add it to my collection!! It doesn't have a lot of interactive features, but it's still beautiful and fun!

My most important criteria for finally buying this ChibiPokeHouse was whether it included all of the small parts (I often see them without the Fire, Ice, and Lightning orbs for example), but it was extra exciting that this one also came with a box in pretty great shape!

The paint job on this ChibiPokeHouse is beautiful; look at the gradient on the rocks!

The altar in the middle opens up so you have access to the orbs! Please excuse the fact that they're out of order, I didn't think about that until after I took pictures haha

The main feature of this playset is that, given you have AAA batteries installed, when you push on one of the columns in the middle, there's a light show similar to what happens in the movie! The floor illuminates, and then each orb illuminates in quick succession. It's super cool and I'm sorry I couldn't get a better picture of it happening!

The other interactive features of this playset include spinning the lighthouse to spin the rock next to it (am I forgetting something about the movie? Why is this a feature??) and pushing the water pillar down so it can raise up again (it's supposed to be Lugia's dramatic entrance). The main feature that I can't highlight is the playset's compatibility with the Fire, Ice, and Lightning small ChibiPokeHouse playsets. There are extra holes on the rocks of Shamouti Island for the water pillars that come with those playsets that you're supposed to put Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres on top of! Getting those three playsets (complete with water pillars) is slowly becoming a grail of mine.

Offering $50 each (with some wiggle room to go higher) for them right now if you have them to sell! I'd also super appreciate a heads up if you see them for sale anywhere! I know about the ones that have been sitting on YAJ for a ridiculous 50000 yen haha

And that concludes my most exciting gets since my last post! Thank you so much for reading this post, and I really hope it was an enjoyable read! :D

As is tradition, I'd like to plug my collection website:

I've updated a lot of pages with a few new things, but the most dramatic change to note is my Wooper/Quagsire page! I don't have everything I own on there, but it's a big improvement from the very small group of things that were on there before!

I hope you all are having a lovely September so far!!

charmander, tyrantitar, lugia, collection update, entei, charizard, flygon
