Pokémon Zukan / Zuken Collection Update (P10)
Good day to all! This is the part 2 to my new gets/collection update post of which I posted part 1 yesterday.
I'll be showcasing the slightly bigger half of the new zukens I've added to my collection.

I have no words, this thing is otherworldly.
I did my best to capture its sheer beauty, and I've certainly succeeded to a degree at least, but images really don't do it justice.
Let's have a look at some more neutral-lit shots.

The colours of the fire are so diverse. From yellow to orange, to a deep red. I have honestly no clue how they even made this.

This might be one of the prettiest single zukans I own. I almost missed out on it too actually. When I saw that both Zapdos and Articuno had been done by King/DS Studios, I knew it was a matter of time before we'd get a proper Moltres. One day, it was announced. I ordered it right away, it was in stock and all, no problems there. But then, some time later, I saw it had been shipped to others, (saw pics of it show up), and I hadn't gotten mine yet. I asked what was up to my middleman company. They said they'd received the item, and that it was broken, so they sent it back for replacement, without telling me. It took forever, and then I got an update, a replacement had arrived, they showed me pics, of it too being broken. They'd sent it back again. I was pretty upset at this point. I've received other items broken, and it sucks, but I'd rather have a broken item, than miss out entirely. I told them to please not send back anything in the future without letting me decide.
Miraculously, King Studio sent out a 3rd one to them, which again arrived broken. More broken the previous one even >_> I deemed the problems fixable, and told them to ship it to me. They did.
Fast forward a few weeks, and it arrived.. incomplete!! I only received a broken off neck, a broken off wing, and body with other wing still attached. No feet, tail, base or peg!
I told them, and they managed to find back the missing pieces. I had them, along with another package which was about to be sent out, express shipped to me. Three days later (days! not weeks/months), it arrived. I glued it, and it's still visible, but only when you look closely!
Fun fact, the peg never came back. However, the 2nd peg from the Giratina from the last post, happened to perfectly fit in place.

It's just fantastic looking from all sides. How does it compare with the original Moltres zukan from DP15?

Answer: It humiliates the original, and that's WITH it being placed on Magmar's lava base from GSC 05. It completely outclasses it every conceivable way.
Far more detailed, more true to the colours seen in games.. no bent beak. It kind of reminds me of the "You vs the guy she tells you not to worry about" meme xD
You probably won't have missed the fact that it however is significantly bigger. Moltres isn't like the DP Legends, it already was scale 1/40.
The official 'size' of Moltres is 2 meters, vs the 1.6 of Zapdos, and 1.7 of Articuno. So, it's true that it's the biggest of those.
At 2 meters, the scale model should have a size of 8cm, somewhere. But what is 'size'? Is it the wingspan? Not even the original would be properly scaled if so. It has a wingspan of roughly 10cm.
I did find something, 8cm long, on this King Studio Moltres. If you measure it vertically, from the top the flames on its head, to the bottom of its fire tail, that's roughly 8cm. So.. I guess that makes it the right size..? It's really vague.
How does it compare to the other birds?

The big daddy bird joins the group! Oh, and Lugia is 5.2 meters. It's quite a lot bigger than Moltres here, and for sure far bulkier, but it sure ain't got 2.5x the wingspan. Oh well, what can I say.
Time to move on! We've only gotten ONE of the thirteen zukans done yet!

For some reason everyone seems to hate these two. I don't get it though? What could possibly be a better ice-type than a literal glacier? Sure, it kinda looks like a table, but isn't that the point? I think Avalugg is one of the best designed Pokémon in gen 6.

There's three versions of this one actually. The version you're looking at right now, which I vastly prefer over the other two, a sort of shiny version, but they took it too far. The whole thing is green, instead of icy blue. .. and then there's the non transparent one. That one just looks like a joke.

Ducklett and Swanna aren't exactly the most interesting of Pokémon I think. They're a duck, and a swan, and that's it really. They sort of fill the role of Wingull and Pelipper in Unova. Swanna is a really ellegant swan though. The colours work really well, and its breast is a nice throwback to Ducklett's colours. I don't think I'd soon use one myself though.

As you may notice, Garbodor has some text on its lower back (and below too). Turns out, this is not a zuken at all! I saw this for sale on Taobao, and thought to recognize it as a Trubbish/Garbodor zuken I once saw. But apparently, this is a "Pokémon 2012 Banpresto UFO Game Catcher Prize Waza Museum Garbodor Gunk Shot Figure", with the base and.. eh. gunk-shot removed.. for some reason. I have no clue where the Trubbish came from then. It's a bit of a shame, the Gunk Shot move looked really cool.
Also, a somewhat fun tangent, maybe. Garbodor has its reputation for being "What's wrong with gen 5", with it being disgusting and all. I originally did not like gen 5 at all for reasons I won't go into. When I finally gave gen 5 a try (started with White 2, because logic), I.. did not use it at all. I just went for the Pokémon I liked. But then when I gave Black (1) a try a bit later, the OG game of the generation. I decided to collect all the Pokémon I hated into my team, to see if I could grow to like them! Garbador was one of them. I'll be honest. I still find it repulsive. But I don't hate him anymore. It was fun to use one.

The redemption arc! Those of you with insane memory will remember how back in March, I'd ordered* this zukan, only to receive just a single Joltik, (it was on the white spot on Wailord's back and all that fun stuff, remember? Ah good times.. good times..). Now, I like Joltik, so I wasn't that upset, but let's get real. I want Galvantula too. It's a fantastic jolty spider! So.. I just bought another one! This time without getting ripped off! Plus side of the whole story.. I now have TWO Joltik!

It's a classic 1/40 rendition of what used to be a 1/50 scale figure.
Some notable differences though, besides the size. The white in the coloured dots is bigger in the new one than in the original zukan. Maybe those are its.. eyes? A more notable difference though is the moss growing on its legs and ..head. In the original zukan its more finely detailed. Especially the legs seemed to have smoothed out somewhat in the HS Studio figure. The head bushes are more spiky in HS though, looking more like a different type of plant almost, as opposed to moss growing on something. I suspect this might be due to the studio likely starting out with models ripped from the 3D games, wheres the original zukan were made before the games were 3D. Though.. I suppose they could've started out with the side-game models, like Battle Revolution. I don't know.
Another thing to note is that the original one is hollow, and thus light as a feather. HS Studio Regigigas is solid all the way through, and thus a chunky boi.

Okay, so as you fellow zuken collectors will know by now, most of the time, you gotta pre-order things, and it can take a while before the item is actually released. Usually it's like 2 months or so.
Here though.. the time between ordering the item (which I only did a few months after I first saw the listing), and receiving the item at home.. was more than a YEAR.
It did arrive eventually though, but still, that's a long time to wait.

It grows a bit during Mega Evolution. Speaking of, Mega Evolution is now in Pokémon GO! I still play this game, yes, I can't wait to get my hands on some Mega Candies to make my Rayquaza go Mega.

Something I really like about this Palkia, as well as the Dialga they made too, is the fact that is pearls really shine. It's made of transparent plastic, so it shines like a gem, sort of. I always wondered though, in the games you can get the Lustrous- and Adamant orbs to give to Palkia and Dialga. They are implied to be the orbs you see them have normally..but then, do they not have those orbs when you encounter them in the games..? Are there just like.. holes instead..? And what's up with Giratina's Griseous orb? I swear, they just needed something for Giratina to make it transform, and went to the orbs, cause the other two already had one.
DP 09: Palkia, King Studios: Palkia
The colours differ slightly between original, and King Studios. King is more saturated and more pink (though not the point of resembling shiny Palkia), while the original is more purple. I kind of like both equally. The DP 09 Palkia already had a fantastic pose, and was exceptionally detailed. The only thing it really is beaten at, is not having the clear orbs.

The universe-god sibblings. Giratina seems a bit too small to me, but other than that, it's a fantastic set. The colours complement each other greatly I think.
BQG Studio: Pikipek/Trumbeak/Toucanon

I'm starting a petition. Toucanon needs a Mega Evolution, where for the first time ever, its name changes too. Toucanon itself needs a name change too, as does Trumbeak.
I'm proposing:

Toucanon -> Pikipekipokipak
Mega Toucanon -> Pikipekipokipakipuk

Oh, something about the actual zuken. It was a pain to assemble! Every wing, tail, and leg came as separate pieces! And they're tiny!!! I do think the orange bases BQG studios uses for the Alolan pokemon is a really good fit.

I'll be honest, I have no clue what all the styles are called, but they do look gorgeous. Same story as with Pikipek line, lots of super tiny pieces. The blue one is my favorite.

Sirfetch'd is one of the silliest, yet awesomest Pokémon from Galar! The concept is so ridiculous! The white knight.. as a duck! With a leak! Just for that fact alone, I wanted this. Also because I like birds in general. I'm really unsure what Komala is doing here though.

Ever since seeing a questionable set of pictures of Gloria and these three, I've been practically in love with them. (I want to clearly state, no, it was not a sexual picture. Not that kind of love). With that out of the way..

I remember getting the original zukan Primal Groudon, from the very last set XY04. It sure looks fierce, but the the whole 1/40 thing had become a joke the moment it was released. Seeing 1/50 models occasionally pop up like Palkia and Regigigas was sad already. But Primal Groudon they had to scale down all the way to 1/90 in order to fit in the capsule... LAAMEEE

I cannot stress this enough, Primal Groudon is seriously big. Especially its tail! Honestly, when I look at it, "Meaty" is what comes to mind, though I don't imagine Groudon to be made of meat really.
