Dear god! It's been so long!

Last time I posted an update was in the first half of March, seems like another world almost.
Oh well, no time to slack off. I've got tons of new stuff to show, and I'll have to split it into two posts unfortunately. It won't fit in one.
One cramped shot of everything together to hopefully lure you in!

I'll list the new gets, and then jump into the pictures. Unlike usually though, I've sort of waited too long with a new update, and I can't fit the entire post within the limits enforced by this site. So, I'll split it into two halves. It's not ideal, I know, but it is how it is.

Oh, and btw, I've finally upgraded from using the back of a movie poster, awkwardly taped on my wall and bed, to an actual photography table, or white-space, as I like to call them! You probably won't see much of a difference, but this makes taking photos way easier for me.

The Bellsprout line! I've always quite liked it as a zukan, it's just colourful and detailed. One of Bellsprout's leaves had broken off sadly :( But nothing superglue couldn't fix. I can't any problem anymore. Fun fact, Bellsprout is actually my dad's favorite Pokémon. He isn't a fan of Pokémon in general though, but of the ones he knows, this is his fav.

I already had the normal/hand Deoxys in the right back, from RSE 07. The Attack and Defense formes are new though! I can now finally finish the moon landscape! Fun thing about how buying these went. One day I was just casually checking Yahoo Auctions Japan to see if anything good was up, and I saw these two both for like 2000 yen only.. with 0 bids.. and only TWO MINUTES LEFT on the timer! I never logged in so fast, and somehow managed to sneak in a bid in time. Now they're here! It's nice to have the moon complete now. ..Other than the fact there's still a fourth third, with normal/tentacle Deoxys from RSE 06.. As well as the green base Speed forme from RSE08.

The comparison that had to be made. How does the original moon compete with the King Studio asteroid? Well, I'd say reasonably well. The colours are distinct, so they have a different feel. The King Studio one has just far superior quality though, and features all four formes. Still, both are cool!

Ghastly and Haunter have a somewhat special place in my heart, the zukan at least. (I swear, going by these posts you'd think I'm insane, and every thing has a special place in my heart or something, like Spongebob's entire list being red)
When I was a kid I used to go to this store where I live, specialized in movie merch. They also sold zukans, as well as other figurines. My collection started there. The first couple times I came there, I obviously knew nothing of zukans etc. But I did notice a cool Ghastly and Haunter figure with green base standing somewhere. Didn't buy it though. Some time later, when I'd started collecting zukans, I found out about this being a rather rare one, even then. So, I got on my bike, went to the store, and.. it was gone. So long has it escaped my grasp, but now I finally have it!
No Gengar though, but I'm sure one day I'll find one of those too.

So many times has this one escaped me! I bid on several auctions, only to be outbid. I placed orders on the middleman site on several listings, only to have it snagged away before they could actually buy it. Even this particular one had almost gotten lost! It shipped in early May, and arrived in late August! In the mean time it had supposedly been returned to the sender, who then supposedly lost it in their warehouse, couldn't find it. Tracking code had gone expired, all hope seemed lost, and then, BOOM, it suddenly arrived at my house!
It's such a beauty though! The rock with little cave! The fierce look of them!

Ah, Zapdos, the OG Thunderbird(s are GO). This is an odd one. The original images of the King Studio set show Zapdos just having a black base. However, I kept seeing more and more photos pop up with it on this cloud base. Then I saw one for sale, and decided to buy it. It came with the cloud base, as you can hopefully see, but the base does not have a peg hole. Instead, it came with a cocktail stick, and a buttload of grey gummy dummy bluetac stuff. The wood and gummy look out of place, but Zapdos does go well with these clouds.

Normally when I compare an original zukan to a studio-made zuken, I'm like "Wowzies I like both, but really the studio one is way better, haha, I like both", but in this case.. I think I actually prefer the original one. I can explain it though!

So, basically, I kind of like both poses for Zapdos equally. In the original one it's just flying, and here it's more sort of on the attack. But, the original base looks far more like large cumulus thunder clouds, with the actual lightning going out it and all, while the new one looks more like smoke. I dare say Zapdos is somewhere in my top 10 favorite original zukans, maybe top 5.

One thing they both have in common though.. They're a pain to assemble.. The wings keep falling out if you're not super careful.

This was a bit of last minute buy. I'd originally liked this one, when the King Studio 17 set was fist announced, but the other zuken in that set were so good, that I decided to skip on this one, not for being bad, but for the being the 'least good'.. Other than Male Pyroar, which I don't really care about. Okay, so, 2nd least good. I skipped it, but later found it 2nd hand, and decided to just go for it. It too got lost in transit, and took months to arrive.
It's the Jigglypuff line enjoying a day on the beach, I think? Jigglypuff is certainly singing. Wigglituff likes it, and is jumping on the pillow, and Igglybuff is ..riding the music.. I guess? And Ditto is there too, pretending to be Jigglypuff. ..I'm not really sure why, but I'll take. Always cool to get a free Ditto.

The jellyfish have arrived! I'm really stoked to finally have this now, because it's part of a eh.. well 'series' of zuken, so to say, that I think will beat the epic Gyarados underwater line. Tenta line, Goldeen line, Seadra line.. and Primal Kyogre! If all goes well, that should be the main focus of the next post, eh. well, the one after that, given the next update post will just be part 2 of this post.
The coral looks really lovely! So colourful, and contrasting the blue and red of the Tenta line.

POKAWKK!! It's a chicken! A very spicy flaming chicken, now more ready to kick your butt than ever! Originally I sort of only bought this one, because I aim to collect all bird zukan/zuken, but when it arrived, I was very glad I did. I may not like Blaziken the pokemon, nor its mega typically, but this figurine of it is flipping goregous! The highly detailed fire coming out of its wrists, and in the blaze-kick! The warmth and richness of the colours, it's phenonemal! I do wish the base would've been a small 1-holed base. Now it looks kinda empty.

I do think Mega Blaziken looks better than normal Blaziken. Torchic is my favorite out of the whole line though. I'd probably just never evolve it, were I to have a real one.

Good old Volcarona, who doesn't remember finding it in the Relic Castle?.. other than those who never played the game I suppose. Seriously, I like bug type Pokémon generally, and Gen 5 introduced lots of great ones, and later gens too, but none hold a candle to Volcarona. Such a gorgeous and graceful moth. This is easily mine, and likely many others' favorite Pokémon of gen 5.

I was sure this thing would arrive broken into a million pieces, based on my experience with Mega Rayquaza. But somehow, despite all odds, it miraculously arrived in just one piece! It's a real beauty, and a shame to see it be DS Studio's last 1/40 scale set. Oddly enough it has 2 peg holes, that would appear to match up with the 2 peg holes in the base. ..it also came with 2 pegs. But no matter what I did, it would not stand on two pegs. One on peg however, it stands just fine.

Many of the larger Pokémon were originally done as scale 1/50 figures, to fit at all in the Gashapon capules. Giratina is one of them. However, this 1/40 model of DS Studios does not appear to be any bigger.. Sure, it's got a way more dynamic pose, but the actual size of, say, the head, is pretty much the same. I wonder what's up with that.

Lemme just say this.. SWABLU IS SO CUTE! It's all tuckered out, just sitting there with its fluffy cloud wings tucked in! I'm pretty sure you could mistake Mega Alteria just for a literal cloud, and I love it. Might not be the best Dragon type, or the most.. er.. dragonny.. but it sure is well designed, and lovable!
