Hi everybody! :D
It's been such a long time since I've posted (
here's my last post, from 2018 wow), but with everybody being active on the Discord server, I was inspired to make a gets post just like I used to love to do!
For a quick re-introduction, my name is FlammableLizard, but feel free to shorten that to Flam or FlamLiz! My top 3 favorite Pokemon (and main collections) are Charizard, Flygon, and Tyranitar, while I side-collect many more. I also really love the Pokemon video games and cards and I'm itching for the day we're allowed to go play at events again. I've been a member of the community since 2011, but I've been a lurker since 2008 and continue to mostly lurk to this day haha
Here's a little teaser of some of the fun things you'll find under the cut:
First off, check out my beautiful US Pokemon Center gets!
I'm always so stoked to see new plush releases on the US Pokemon Center! As a huge Mystery Dungeon fan, I had to get the Kecleon brothers in plush form. They're super cute, though not the softest plush. Wooloo was a little bit of an impulse purchase when it was restocked, but I've fallen deeply in love with Wooloo even though I never had any intention of collecting it. This plush is super fluffy and I'm so glad I bought it! Finally, we have the HUGE Gigantamax Charizard plush! I was surprised to realize that it had some pretty substantial armature inside to allow you to pose its wings, tail, and arms! I'm super glad I bought it as soon as it went up on the site because it was out of stock a few hours later.
Next up, I bought this Sliding Celebrations pin for the adorable Charmander! I've also been making a lot of s'mores this summer, so it really fits my general lifestyle too teehee!
Last thing from the Pokemon Center; I was bit by the Day With Eevee bug! I decided to only get my favorite Eeveelutions though, and I'm 2/3rds of the way there (just missing Leafeon)! Thankfully my figures have very nice paint jobs, but I've definitely seen some inconsistencies with quality in this line of figures. That aside, they're really nice and surprisingly large!
Next, I had to buy a WCT Lugia when I saw it looking at me in GameStop! I've always loved Lugia, and this plush is really well-made so it was a perfect use of my collection funds. I can't wait to see what Pokemon WCT makes merch of next!
Here are a bunch of plush I've purchased from lovely people in the Discord server in the past few months! I bought Larvitar from Cinivala, and I'm so happy to finally add it to my collection! I always felt jealous of the fact that Japanese McDonald's got large plush, but now I have one too! All of the wonderful MPC in this picture are from a lot that Juna split with several other members. I kinda missed the MPC train when they were coming out, so it's awesome to finally add more of my favorite 5th gen Pokemon to my collection! Still looking for Haxorus if anybody has one for sale btw
These figures are from Discord user Kristina! I had been looking for a PMD Turtwig figure forever, so it's really nice to finally have one! Since I was already buying Turtwig, I decided to expand my Grovyle collection too with this cute gacha figure!
For my final Discord gets, here is a Charizard Megablock from irrisichi and a mini Charizard card binder from aaron! Both of these items eluded me for a very long time, but now they're both here! I was pleasantly surprised by how large the Megablock is! The wings on the sides and tail on the back are super cute. The artwork on the binder is really nostalgic for me and it fits perfectly as a shelf backdrop.
Last get before the grail, I caved and bought a Millennium badge set finally! I've been casually looking at these sets for years and years, but never put in the money to buy one because their prices were generally ridiculous on eBay. After using Buyee to buy the most exciting item in this post, I decided to use the opportunity to grab one of these pin sets too. These logos are super iconic, and I love having them all together in such a neat pin set!
And now time for a GRAIL STORY! Ever since they were offered for purchase on pokemoncenter.com in the early 2000s, I’ve been enamored with the Chibi Pokemon House line of products. I was incredibly lucky to be gifted a few for birthdays/holidays during those years, but I missed out on the one I thought was the most beautiful: the third movie-themed set. I loved how the crystals looked in the center of the set AND it came with three of my favorite Pokemon of all time: Charizard, Entei, and Phanpy. What’s not to love? Before I could get it though, it was removed from the Pokemon Center site and I was devastated. Years later when I started to become aware of the secondhand market, I was hard-pressed to find a set that included all the figures for less than $100.
Flash forward to this May when Discord user stuffuls posted a link to a listing for the Japanese version of the playset WITH ITS BOX for about THIRTY DOLLARS. I couldn’t believe my eyes and bought it as quickly as my fingers could move (I am forever in your debt, stuffuls!!)
When it arrived at my doorstep and I opened the shipping box, this was the beautiful sight I was met with:
I truly couldn’t believe my eyes even just looking at the box. Seeing all the Unown, Entei, and Charizard instantly transported me back to the year that movie came out.
It was packed very carefully, and my heart skipped a beat when I saw the mini figures peeking out of the corner of the air pillows.
For a fun extra bit, a flap of the box has Ash, Brock, Misty, and Molly as standees you can cut out! Thankfully the previous owner left them intact.
Look at all these wonderful figures! It feels unreal to have all of them together like this.
And here's everything in its place! Just looking at this play set makes me run through all my favorite scenes from the movie in my head. There are so many wonderful details on it that I just can't get over! The crystals look so pretty and I love how you can spin the wheel the Unown are on to see more of the letters.
When you twist a tree, Mantine pops out to say hello!
There are two levers on the back that you use to launch whatever figures are on the pads adjacent to the Unown. When you hit the levers, flashing lights appear underneath the Unown like the scene where everybody is working together to breach the powerful shield the Unown have created around themselves. Or maybe the idea is to show Charizard and Entei fighting each other? Either way, the flashing lights are pretty!
I haven't been able to gush about a grail for a very long time, and it feels so wonderful! Thanks for making it all the way through this post and enjoying my silly rambling.
Normally I'd put pictures of my whole collection together at the end of a gets post, but I need to do some reorganizing before I do that haha!
If you'd like to see more of my collection, please check out my collection site! It's not up-to-date, but I'm slowly adding newer things!
I hope you're all having a great day! It has been wonderful to re-connect with all of you on Discord! :D
