McDonald's Pika restoration + more

Hey everyone, I have another restoration to share! I recently bought an adorable 2001 JP McDonald's Pikachu plush from shiny_vulpix and decided to fix them up~ <3 Check out the process under the cut!

Old school Pikas are one my favorite things to collect, so I'm really happy to have been able to find such an amazing deal for this guy! He was already in pretty good shape, but I wanted to get him looking his best.

First thing I did was trim some of the fur around his nose~

That's better! Next, it's time to open a seam to replace the dead batteries and add a little extra stuffing to his ears.

I cleaned out the voicebox just with a q-tip. It wasn't too corroded, otherwise I would have also used some rubbing alcohol. Here you can see his ears are perkier and I closed the seam with a hidden stitch:

All that's left is to vacuum him off and do a gentle hand wash!

After washing and gently drying him a bit with a towel, I brushed him with a soft bristle brush and let him sit in the sun for a while.

And the finished result is a beautiful Pikachu!!

His voice is back, too- you can check out a small clip on my Instagram post here: https://www.instagram.com/p/B1rVsTSF6Bi/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

As a side note, I also recently purchased a Sunflora Pokemon Fit plush- she's SO cute T_T <3 I love posing her by my sunflowers! Her head is turned slightly, instead of facing directly forward- I think this gives her some character, I really like it. She makes a great travelling companion, too~

As a closing question- do you guys collect Pokemon fanzines? I participated in one last year and would really love to contribute to and purchase more of them! It's so fun to see different artist styles together like that.

Thanks for reading!
