Intro + Showing Off My Collection + Possible Mirage?

Hello all!

My name is Hound, and I've been collecting Pokemon for coming up on 10 years. Ironically I actually cleared out much of my collection last year due to me starting university, but it's allowed me to heavily streamline my collection, so it's not so bad. Primarily I collect Starly line items (Staraptor is my favourite Pokemon of all time ( Read more... )

ngl I was looking at your squirtle at first and thought that there was no way something could be so over-embroideried and be old enough to be a mirage plush, but looking at it compared to the pink squirtle...at the very least, my argument isn't relevant anymore, even if they aren't the same plush.

I noticed two very key differences between the pink squirtle and your squirtle, though; the pink squirtle has a squirrel tail while yours has a tiny turtle tail, and the pink squirtle's back shell markings are different than yours. They both have the same number of sections, but they're rotated differently, so they're "opposite" to each other so to speak...sorry it's hard to explain but hopefully it's easy enough to spot if you actually look at the two in comparison haha.

Actually, I did some googling and I wonder if the pink squirtle being a mirage is really accurate or not. At the very least, it must be a mass-produced one; it was at one point sold on aliexpress, although it isn't currently (it says page not found if you try to go to it)

I'm not a mirage expert by any means btw, but the line between bootlegs and mirages can be really fine sometimes - I think mirage plush shouldn't really count if they were mass-produced, that sounds just like a bootleg plush to me, but that's completely my opinion and doesn't detract from the charm they have anyways!

I guess the best way of putting it in my opinion is that if the pink squirtle is a mirage plush, there's a very high chance yours is as well - and many different sources consider the pink squirtle a mirage (found another one here https://www.deviantart.com/mizukiimoon/art/Updated-Taiwan-Mirage-Pokemon-Plush-Collection-546804452). They seem too similar to not be related!
