Canada Post Strike

Nov 20, 2018 09:43

HI Everyone!

I know there is probably a minority of members here from Canada, nevertheless, since I am the sole Canadian moderator, I have decided it would be in the community's best interest if I created a post to let everyone know what is going on. I am no way afiliated with Canada Post, aside from being a user of their services. This strike is even affecting me. For more information about negotiations, locations, information etc. I will refer you to the Canada Post Website.

If you are sending to Canada, please hold onto your packages until a resolution is reached. Canada Post has already notified all other countries to halt all deliveries (reference). As much as we want everyone to send their sales ASAP, it is a bit worrisome that parcels will be lost or in limbo for a long period of time. Canada Post and its rotating strikes have already reached a historical 30 day backlog. If you are sending to hold off until issues resolve.

If you are buying from Canada, please contact all members whom you've purchased from. We've come up with 3 options on how to proceed and it is up to everyone in the community to try and accomodate as best they can. Members may miss this post so this is to protect you the buyer as well.
  • A) Proceed normally, knowing there is a backlog and strike going on (Not recommended)
  • B) Ask for a temporary refund. When this issue cools off, contact the seller and resend payment. Members who do not resend will be given at least neutral feedback for backing out of a sale that already was agreed upon.
  • C) Ask to hold onto shipping. When this issue cools off, contact the seller and ask them to please proceed with shipping your items. Members who disappear and never ship will be given negative feedback.
  • D) Use a different postal service. Private vendors such as UPS, FedEx, DHL etc are not affected. This is for surface/air mail from your postal provider to Canada.

We understand that with the holiday season coming up, finances are a huge stressor, so temporary refunds may not be available for everyone, however with Paypal's claim limit, we are hoping that sellers will be accomodating to Canadian buyers. It isn't ideal by any stretch to hold onto shipping or ask for a refund, but we are looking to protect the community members that live in all countries, not just Canada. This is a proactive approach to ensuring that everyone is taken care of.

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to ask them here, or send me a Private Message. As stated above, since I am the sole Canadian moderator, I will be taken care of all issues that may arise from this situation. Thanks everyone for being patient and reading through this post and have a great day!
