introduction and collection wants for the year!
Hey everyone! Glad to be a part of this community now, and figured it was about time to introduce myself and my (small) figure collection.
I first got into Pokemon when Red and Blue were released in 1998 (US), and my older brother went out and bought both right away. Notably, it was one of the few times we agreed on something right away, with me wanting the awesome fire dragon and him the giant water cannon-turtle. It was love at first play. For Christmas that year, we got an N64 with Ocarina of Time. Needless to say, they were some of the best months of my life (Pokemon Snap anyone? still one of my all-time favorites), and the Nintendo love has continued ever since.
Anyways, I've accumulated random Pokemon, Zelda, and Nintendo stuff over the years, but haven't really focused on collecting for many years now. Back then my favorites were always - like many of us - the Tomy figures! So I decided that they would be a great way to get back into collecting and finish my childhood set.
First half - unpacked all over my desk - need to come up with a good display for them.

So for now I've set two collection goals for myself:
1) First, of course, I want to finish my Gen. 1 Tomy collection. So the next few I am looking for right now are
-Nidoran♀ and Nidoran♂
-Arcanine
-Poliwhirl and Poliwrath
-Machop
-Cloyster (sadly I had him as a kid but he was a victim of a dog mauling - it was super effective)
-Jynx
-Pinsir
-Flareon
-Omanyte and Omastar
-Kabuto and Kabutops
-Aerodactyl
-Omastar's Helix Fossil, Kabutops' Dome Fossil, Aerodactyl's Old Amber, Clefable's Pokedoll, Cubone with his bone club, and the little Pokeball, Great Ball, and Masterball that came with the Eeveelutions (and I heard maybe Scyther as well?).
-Any other Tomys in good condition, some of mine are less than stellar and would love to replace them at some point if the price is right.
2) And second, I'd like to work on a complete figure collection of all the ghost types. A lot of them after Gen. 2 don't have a Tomy, so I guess maybe kid figures for some? I know I'm not alone here, but the ghosts have always been my favorites since I first saw Gastly's goofy sprite in the Pokemon Tower. So many cool designs, and excellent balance of dark (some honestly kinda terrifying Pokedex entries) and lighthearted. Duskull is one of my favorite Pokemon ever, so I'd love to find a cool figure of him.
After I finish those goals, I'll probably move on to the next generations of Tomy figures and who knows what else. Luckily (or unluckily) my budget is tight at the moment after Christmas and other things - so I think these should keep me occupied for a while! I may not be able to purchase a lot right away - but if anyone has Tomy/and or any Ghost type figures to sell I'd love to check them out! Even if not for sale I'm interested in seeing others' collections and how you display them (a challenge I am currently pondering, since all over my work desk is not ideal).
