A Proper Collection Intro

Jan 05, 2018 18:53

Hello all! I hope everyone had wonderful holidays as I sure did! I held off on making an intro post to my collection back when I got accepted into pkmncollectors on November 13. I wanted to finish receiving all of my 2017 orders and gifts first. Now that they are all here, I wasted no time in taking photos of them! Currently I am working on a weebly site to showcase my collection (it looks ugly right now since I'm not really talented in making a website) as well as document important facts and some opinions on each of my items. I find that not many personal collection sites will discuss specifics on individual items which I think would be very helpful to someone new to collecting or considering an item for their own collection. When I come across a new item of interest, I often find myself asking questions like, "What material is it made of?," "How big is it?," "Is it a floppy/cuddly plush?," "Can this plush display without support?," "Was this item exclusive to Japan or did it have an international release?" and so on. These are the questions I aim to answer for the items on my personal collection site and I hope it will help others decide if they should get the item for themselves ^^

Of course, if you clicked on this post you're probably more interested in seeing photos rather than read me blab about less important things. So here are the pics--big warning that this is very image heavy and mostly of plush. Currently I cannot take group photos as my tiny room is extremely cluttered with mountains of boxes which I don't know when will be moved out, so apologies in advance for all the individual shots!

Fennekin was my first serious plush collection that started in early 2014. I've been in love with this Pokemon since the day it was revealed. After getting the first Tomy plush, the PC Poke Plush and Poke Doll came soon after, and then the rest... the collection just sort of happened! And I got the Braixen for Christmas from a friend that year.

I didn't plan on collecting any other Pokemon... that is, until another friend gave me the Sapporo Alolan Vulpix Mascot for Christmas 2016! I do love Vulpix, it was my most favorite Pokemon up until Fennekin claimed its throne, but it still has a reserved place in my heart... you can probably tell that I just adore foxes, lol! And with Sun and Moon introducing the new Alolan forms, I immediately took interest in Alolan Vulpix. Never thought I'd end up with a collection of them! My very first collectible Pokemon figure is the Alolan Vulpix you see here, given to me for Christmas 2017 by the same friend who gave me the Braixen plush.

Only four plush so far, but that's because I am extremely picky with Sylveon plush :c I originally wanted to start a Sylveon plush collection along with Fennekin because I grew to love my Fairy Monotype team which was built around my Sylveon. I ordered the Tomy Sylveon and really didn't like how the bowless ear flopped, so I returned it. From reviews I learned that even the PC Poke Plush and Poke Doll Sylveon also had a floppy ear. I decided not to collect Sylveon for this reason and paid almost zero attention to any other Sylveon plush releases. Fast forward to 2017, the new Pokemon Dolls series included Sylveon--with erect ears! It made me wonder if there were other Sylveon plush with ears like this one. Thankfully sunlightblossom was kind enough to give me more information which helped spark this new side collection. I'm really looking forward to making a small corner of my room shine pink with these little ones and more Sylveon in the future!

This post is probably really long, and again I apologize for the mass amount of photos (I hope I inserted the LJ cut correctly...). I will try to get group photos in the future, hopefully my room will be less crowded whenever that happens.
