Build a Bear Eevee review.

Sep 06, 2016 16:46

Hello everyone! So, as many of you know, Build A Bear released a new pokemon plush and it was Eevee! It was supposed to go live on Sept 1st, but a post by fellow comm member pmxellos on 8/29/16 alerted those of us who where quick enough that they had put up some Eevees for order. I got mine in right away and it showed up today! I know there we a lot of people wondering if the price tag is worth of the price of $62 for the "online exclusive" versus the $24 or $28 price for the just the plush (I don't remember exactly what the price was, opps). As I am writing this, I tried to look it up on the website and I got a "thank you for your interest in our upcoming product. We can email you when it comes out." Ok then.... (all pictures lead to a bigger picture when clicked if you want a better view)

Anyway, here we go! First up the tags:

Not terribly exciting... but I think in the future, if there are eevees left over, they will sell the eeveeultion cape separately. Why? I have seen several outfits that were only purchasable with a certain plush that are now buy able separately (Shining Armors outfit from mlp for an example). Adding to that, my cape arrived with a sales sticker of 14.50. Hmmm.... XD Speaking of that, here are the outfits:

The cape is nice and silky and looks very nice, the collar fur is a lot like the plush itself (don't worry, eevee is coming) but um... unless eevee is meant to have a tent on her back, it doesn't go on very well... I stopped at the point I started to hear ripping. -_-; I haven't tried the pokeball sleeper, but I assume it would have the same issue....

Now lets look at the plush itself! The face is just adorable and... oh loki, this isn't a photo shoot about you!

*coughs* Anyway, here is the face and a top shot of eevee. Its very fuzzy and super soft and I just love its smile! The sound chip in its foot really... is quite lacking. Its hard to press, and the voice they chose for eevee is very high and shrill. I suppose it matches the US anime voice but I just keep thinking that the eevee voice is that high because it was castrated, poor thing. XD I definitely prefer to the voice of the JP talking plush over this. ^_^;

When I first got eevee, I had wondered were its head fluff was. After I petted it and this popped up, I realized it WAS the head fluff... I thought maybe it was just part of the fur rubbed the wrong way because of the length of the fur. Nope. XD

On looking closer at it, I started thinking it was rather big... so I decided to compare it against a 1:1 eevee... definitely bigger then the 1:1 eevee. Checking the birth certificate it showed why. 14 inches versus 11 or 12 inches tall. Can't forget the card but honestly, its not exactly a new picture. I am pretty sure this artwork is already out in the tcg cards, so not exactly unique in any way....

As an overall thing, while I love the plush itself, everything else is pretty meh in my opinion. If you are willing to potentially not get the eeveelution cape (I do admit, I love the design, but the fact I can't get it over the tail really bugs me) my personal advice is to just get the plush. It stands well, is really soft and fuzzy, and the biggest eevee plush available (to my knowledge) that isn't the super incredibly rare lotto eevee.

So, hope this helps you guys out! Please let me know what you think of my review or to post any questions I may have not answered for you. If you are on the hunt for those other eeveelutions or other pokemons, check out my sales post, Blues Adoption House. Help these pokes find a new loving home. Thanks everyone for reading. =3
