Ah i see. But it is just so strange cus even larger and heavier items made it through with no problem (i guess maybe the person who was looking at it didn't even want to be bother with it and just let it pass?).

However even if the items are bought from a private seller, the seller can undervalue the item(s) and mark it as a gift. I actually checked the FJ's invoices that were attached to an old package, and never in the statements did it show the original values of the items. However, it did indicate what the items are (toys, shoes, clothing...). For this package, I do have 3 pairs of shoes that I won at a very very cheap price. And the other stuff were like toys/figures, and 2 clothing. I saw the package yesterday while trying to get the customs border number so I can call them. It showed that they marked the value of the items as $100. And it was very weird cus after all the fees and charges i got charged for $43.29 on it. That's like 43% of the value they put. O.O That's crazy.

I called the Canada Border Services Agency today and they told me I have two choices: 1) Pay for the customs fees at the post office and then request a refund from the government, attaching the invoices from FJ to show them proof of the items and the values or 2) Request the post office to send the package back for an appeal, so the customs can revisit the package and reassess it.

What do you think I should do? Since if I pick option 1) I just need to send the FJ's invoices to the government as proof, and for any of the items (whether it is toys, shoes, or clothing) is marked as 100 yen each. Or option 2) where the package is sent back to the border. They might change the cost. I am not sure if they would even charge more for it.

Another member just told that that part of the fee is the cost of the time they used to inspect the package. So if I were to get it send back to get it re-evaluated, it would be another $9~12 fee. Which means even if they canceled the other charges on the package, I would still have to pay $18 ~24 :( Man that sucks so much!
