Mini-Grail & Other New Gets!
Yay! I received my mini-grail last week but I didn't have time to post it until now. Actually, I really wanted to take some natural pictures of this guy with some of my other figures because it has such a dynamic pose but that would mean going out into the backyard and braving the large grass of unknown creatures. Since the lawnmower is broken for the time being, I figure if I waited until I could get some "natural shots," I would forget all about it so here it is now!
What could be standing near Angel?
This Pokepark TCG binder is super cool. I instantly fell in love with it because of the art. Look at those dynamic poses of the Johto and Hoenn legends (and the randomly placed Tauros..). Any collector of the above should definitely have this in their collection! Sadly this one didn't come with the original cards from the promotion but it did come with some nice ones including a Holo Houndoom (my first Houndoom card!).
I'm not really a sucker when it comes to Pokemon Time merch because I'm more of a fan of official and dynamic poses like what you see in Kaiyodo figures or Pokemon Center plushes, but even I find this particular clearfile irresistible. The Totodile on top of an ice cream cone with a cherry on top on the backside is especially precious. <3
I got this little sweetheart a while back but didn't have a chance to share him yet so here you go~ I can't believe I found someone selling this on the comm. I know one other person had this and seeing as it has such a unique pose, I thought I would have to trade a liver for one, but I got it for a reasonable price. Look how adorable he is raising his foot and sticking out his tongue like he's begging. Awww precious baby. <3
I'm pretty sure I have most if not all the Growlithe figures so discovering this piece in a random lot was a nice surprise. I actually got an Umbreon Banpresto figure Keychain in the same order but silly me forgot to take a picture of it. :P
Could it be? Yes, that playful baby is Banpresto Arcanine! Now it has been designated as my mini-grail for some time now, but this one seriously has some personal value to me for certain reasons. Or you can just scroll down to some fun pics if you want to skip the story.
Now as some of you are aware of, the custom Arcanine plush behind the figure was made as a memorial to my recently deceased dog, Angel. I knew her health was going downhill earlier this year, so I was incredibly adamant about searching on Y!J for the Banpresto Arcanine figure. The pose reminded me of Angel in her younger days when she wanted to play and out of all the canine Pokemon, Arcanine's personality and appearance was quite close to her own so it pretty much became the right Pokemon to symbolize her memory. Some time in March, I found an auction for Banpresto Arcanine and I started bidding within the last few days. I didn't mind spending the extra money because I valued it very high for obvious reasons. It just happened to be the morning of the day that we decided Angel had to be put to sleep that the auction ended. Since I was distraught, I forgot all about the auction and missed out on the figure then.
Since the figure didn't work out, I wanted to at least have a custom plush of Arcanine in a pose of Angel in her elder years and that's where the one in the picture above came about. It was just recently that I happen to see another Arcanine Banpresto figure come up for auction. It was even up for only 24 hours so I was excited to think that there might be as much competition this time around. I was right and I won this one for a very reasonable price! It's definitely one of my favorite pieces in my collection and I'm almost tempted to put it in a case because it's so special. <3
