Hi everyone! I've not been very active here the last several months, but I've been as into collecting as ever. This summer saw a lot of new Jolteon releases, I found a few rare old Dialga items, and of course X/Y has introduced a host of new dragon types!
Here's a little preview:
My collection as a whole doesn't look super different from my last collection post in January, but I felt silly saying "just see my last post to see the rest of my display", so I took some crappy quick photos! (If you do want to see the old post, you can find it
here.)
First I'll show my prized main collection, Dialga! This wall also hosts the other legendary dragon types (including Draco Plate Arceus), though some of their larger plush don't fit in the cubbies.
My main collection is also my most hardcore: I collect plush, figures, flats, and any other random little items like stamps, pouches, etc. I've been collecting Dialga for just over 6 years now, and there's always more to find and search for! I've been finding that most of the "new" items I encounter are from before I started collecting him, particularly from 2006 when Diamond/Pearl were first released. (There's a hint to you new Xerneas and Yveltal collectors - those obscure Pokecen-exclusive items are going to be rare in a few years!)
Here are a few of the newest Dialga I've added to my collection.
There's a small series of Pokemon craft kits consisting of felt, stickers, thread, and a few other things that can be used to make your own plush. I've got next to no experience with sewing, so I trusted Dialga to my friend
ambertdd, and I think he came out great!
Although this keychain was released in 2006, it wasn't until 2013 that I even knew of its existence. I suspect that it's so rare because it's meant to be customized: it comes with stickers that can be used to spell out a (Japanese) name, which are then applied to the keyring. Parents who bought these keychains new probably either assumed that no one would want a keychain with their kid's name on it, or they didn't want to offer such items up on the internet. In any case, I was lucky enough to find a seller on eBay who had a few items from this set up for auction, so I snapped this one up right away!
Diamond-patterned Dialga items like this one (typically Pokecen exclusives from 2006) are some of my favorite Dialga items, and this one is bangin'! But to make it even better...
...the same auction also included this game case! Two Dialga items I'd never seen before, in one listing? Amazing!
I do like Dialga customs too, though it's not often that I commission new ones. I'd wanted a My Little Pony styled Dialga for a while, so I jumped at the chance when
chibisilverwing posted commissions here on the community. I'm quite pleased with the result!
Now, back to the rest of my display... As far as the other dragon types (hard to see in that picture, I know, but I'll address that later), I don't collect anywhere near as obsessively. I collect Pokedolls, Tomy MC figures, Kids figures, Retsuden stamps, and zukan, substituting other items if they don't have some of those. Most of the legendaries have tons of toys made, so I often end up picking up other things I like of them, especially if I get them as bonuses in lots.
Next up, we'll show Jolteon! I don't remember exactly when I started collecting Jolteon, but it was well before I came across this community - maybe 2002 or something? Jolteon has been one of my favorites since RBY, so I'd always pick up toys like the Tomy figure when I saw them in stores or on the old Pokemon Center website.
Thanks to all the Eevee Friends movie madness, Jolteon is actually my most changed collection this year. Before this summer, I had them
neatly sorted into 4 cubes: Pokemon Center items, customs, figures, and everything else, with other plush on top. Now there are just too many Jolteon to make that feasible, so I rearranged them in a way that I still think works fairly well. :) I've picked up some items of Glaceon and Espeon too, so they've got honorary spots at the bottom here.
Many of my Jolteon items are very special to me, but if I had to choose one, it would probably be the cel. I basically got it by being in the right place at the right time; I was looking for Jolteon on eBay several years ago (2004? 2005?) when I came across it, and Pokemon was not very popular in the US at the time, so there wasn't much competition. I believe there are only 2 Jolteon episodes that could have a cel - mine is from The Ultimate Test.
I'd post my new Jolteon too, but 1) I expect a lot of them have already been all over this community while I haven't been actively reading and 2) there are a lot of them. However, I've recently rearranged my Jolteon collection site, so now it's easier to look through and see all my Jolteon! Still working on the TCG and some other flats, though.
Jolteon collection page! Across from those, I've got kind of an overflow shelf/room divider, which has my large plush, minor side collections, and some other items that don't really fit in anywhere else.
I do like cat Pokemon! I'll be interested to see what Meowstic toys are in store for us.
I also started a new themed collection this summer, which is of the new Hyper Size Tomy MC figures. They're posable, have a nice feel to them, and I had about half of them anyway since there are so many dragons~ I do not have Xerneas and Yveltal yet, but I will be picking them up soon!
Next to the Jolteon shelf, we've got a narrow wall with some random cute Pokedolls of Pokemon I don't otherwise collect. But they are cute!
Moving on (and sorry for the terrible lens flare here, didn't notice that until I was editing the photos), are my non-dragon side collections! Most of these guys I grew to like through battling with ingame. My Zoroark collection is mostly a result of 2010 movie hype, but I think I've kept it pretty up to date - as far as I know, I've got all her figures except for the super-limited shimmery version of the 711 lotto figure and a small cake decoration figure.
Speaking of movie hype Pokemon, I've got these matched sets from the 2012 promotions...
which are also matched by their Tomy plush! I've also got some 1/1 plush up here that I particularly liked. Thinking about trying to make room for a Fennekin too, after meeting
irethsune's....
And to finish strong, we have the rest of my dragon type collection: all the non-legendaries! They're also joined by some misc cute canvas and other plush up top.
Some of these dragons I intentionally collect fairly hardcore (like Salamence and Hydreigon lines), others I may have gone a little overboard...but there are so many cool dragon toys!
When setting up this display, I ended up with a few "extra" cubbies, so one currently has dragon promotion items (like Battle Carnival and Dragon Selection), and the other has Iris and Drayden items, with a few Emolga in there for Iris. I'll have to find somewhere else to move these to when the Kalos dragons start getting merch!
If you would like to see my collection in more detail, please take a look at my collection site, Dialga FTW!
Dialga and more! If you want to see better pictures of any of my other dragon collections, I have a page for them here! You can also look at the Salamence and Hydreigon line items in more detail by clicking the link below their photos on the page below.
Dragon collections! If you've visited my site before and are having issues clicking the buttons on the left sidebar, you may be on an old version of the site, as I fixed that issue in a recent update. Please try refreshing the page!
Like many collection posts, I'll close out with my wanted lists. They always feel huge and insurmountable, but I've had the good fortune to move two highly wanted items from "wanted" to "coming soon" in the last week, so anything's possible!
There are so many Dialga items that I gave him a separate list, which is here:
Wanted DialgaOther Wanted Pokemon (Jolteon, dragons, etc) Thanks for looking and reading!
