Collection update, grail gets, and questions!

Dec 11, 2012 23:22

Howdy everyone! It's been a few months since my last  collection update on pkmncollectors, and now side collections have finally been decided upon! I did some weeding of the less-loved items from my prior update, which will probably be up for sale sometime after the new year! It's also the end of the school semester here, and since I'll be away from college, I won't get a chance to take pictures of any gets for the next month ^_^ and I received my holy grail...s! :D More later!

My main collection is Kabuto and Kabutops, though I indulge in side collections like everyone else haha I have Muk/Grimer, Lugia and Legendary Birds, the Hoenn Weather trio, and a kinda accidental collection of "Manly Legendaries" - Deoxys, Dialga, Giratina, and Darkrai! And a few random pieces of other cool pokemon I got because they were in lots I bought or were extremely cheap that it'd be a crime not to get them!

Below cuts are extremely image heavy - proceed with caution! D:

To begin, let's start with side collections gets! Below are all of the random things I've bought/won over the last three months on pkmncollectors that I didn't sell/give to friends and family!

First is my Muk/Grimer collection! It's gotten some new things since we last saw it:
Muk 151 stamper, Muk Tomy, Grimer Tomy, Green Muk Metal Figure, Gold Muk Metal Figure, Red....??? Grimer Pog, Grimer metal coin, lenticular Muk/Grimer Pog, and Muk and Grimer Roseart stamps! The two sticker cards at the bottom I had ended up with from a GA! It's cool, seeing alternate sugimori artwork for these pokemon ^_^

The only side collection to recieve only a few things were my weather trio legendaries - I had gotten a nifty Groudon tomy figure of some sort, and the new Rayquaza zukan from a GB with pegasus2010 ^_^ He's pretty cool!

Here's all of the random "Don't really belong anywhere else, but they're cool, so I'll be keeping them" collection - a Gengar, Bulbasaur, and Ivysaur Friends plushes from dadarkangellilith, an Arceus preorder figure, an Arceus TCG coin, Sableye kid from __sasami__, Infernape from gothybeans's Schenzi Kids GA waaaay back when, Abra and Magikarp metal figures from saberalter, and Red Gyrados pracoro dice from my Dice and Other Things GA ^_^ The Aerodactyl, Gengar, Growlith, and Arcanine metal figures happened to be in a lot off Y!J that I bought! (The rest of those figures'll be up for sale in january, when I get back from vaction!) Growlithe and Arcanine especially look awesome, and they're both copper! :D

The dice look really weird in the above picture, so here's a better one:

Closed mouth, Open mouth, and :b Gyradoses! ^_^

My "Manly Legendaries" collection came out of a single initial purchase - four chou getts from eevee_evs_lover!

After i got them all, I decided that they're really cool, so I kept them all together, and a side collection grew out of those four! I had gotten kids for each from a GA a long while back, and I've just been happening upon really random finds and sales for each pokemon ^_^

Deoxys:

HOLY MAGIKARP, WHAT IS THAT BIG THING? Apparently, it's a giant electronic tomy Deoxys! orangegarchomp held a Rush GA a while ago, and I placed a bid on this guy without realizing exactly how awesomely big he was! Needless to say, when the package arrived, i was thrown off by its bulk. I opened it up, and his two great eyes just stared at me O_O

He didn't have batteries when he came, and I saw the connections were rather corroded with old battery acid, but I scraped it off and put in some that I had taken out from an electronic christmas orrnament. I wish I captured the look on my face when I freaked out at the ethereal roaring he made right as I turned it on (I dropped him out of shock) haha and yeah! Everything still works 100%! Each arm, when moved, creates a different sound and also lights up his chest piece, while an additional button in the back plays a longer sound ^_^ Needless to say, he was well worth the 5 dollars I had bid on him XD

The Deoxys kid came from a GA, and the 10th Anniversary Zukan was won back in October, when the comm had like three or four different, massive Zukan GAs running - this one happened to be successful! I'm really fond of how crisp and clean the base was, and having a clear Ash to scale with the Deoxys was really really cool looking!

Dialga:

I had decided early on in 4th gen that I was going to get whichever game had a cooler looking legendary - Dialga beat Palkia by a landslide, so I've long since had an interest in him ^_^ The figure on the left is a European zukan, while the right is a kid - both from gothybeans, one way or the other! The pokedoll was from my sister, eeveeveevulpix2000, who travelled to Nintendo World over Thanksgiving ^_^ he's adorable! :D

Giratina:

Giatina's also been one of those "Looks really cool, so I like him" Pokemon for a while, so I found some kids in both regular and origin formes, and the preorder figure was from the smorgasbord GA ^_^

Darkrai:

Just a kid and a metal figure I won from myvampirelust19's metal figures auctions a while back ^_^

Legendary Birds:

A nifty posable Lugia from danielsard, retsuden stamper from helloskitty, a charm strap Lugia from poke_zula, the 10th anniversary Lugia zukan from the aforementioned zukan GA by milomilotic11, Moltres and Articuno old tomy figures (still missing Zapdos...), and Moltres and Articuno in-case figures from saberalter and caffwin's In-Case GA ^_^

Oh, and since joining pkmncollectors, I've also been getting random Raichu/Pikachu things for my girlfriend, which has since grown to be a cute little collection ^_^

For Kabutops and Kabuto, a looooot has changed haha for reference's sake, here's the extent of my Kabuto/Kabutops collection as it was back in September:

Not all that much, right? Well...the past few months changed that. Hardcore.

:D :D :D :D

haha the number of figures I had nearly quadrupled in thre months! I also got more TCG and other cards and flats and things ^_^

So! Starting off, here's a fair amount of Kabutop's TCG - all but the Majestic Dawn and Holon Phantoms cards are holos (those two being reverse holos), and the larger Crystal Kabutops card is actually a boxtopper thingy that's transparent and reflective ^_^ Still need the two Skyridge Kabutopses and the Alto Mare's Kabutops cards before these are done!

The two Kabuto kids were from the aforementioned Schenzi's Kids GA, while I got the left Kabutops from __sasami__ and the right one from schenzi ^_^ The middle in-case figure was from the one hosted by saberalter and caffwin a few months ago! :D

Chibi stampers! :D I had gotten the green Kabutops during my first few days on the comm from happyjolteon, while the pink one from schenzi and the blue Kabutops and pink Kabuto from h1tchh1ker :D The Kabutopses are now a complete set! So I guess I'll be on the lookout for a green or blue Kabuto now, too ^_^

Kabuto line zukan :D :D :D I happened upon the whole series that this line was a part of on ebay - I bought the lot and sold off most of the rest of those zukan haha but here it is!
A cool thing I noticed: since zukan are mostly 1/40th scale, they're about correctly proportioned with a Lego minifigure! This little figure I had created in my image at the Lego store, and apparently he's exactly 1/40th my actual height, so it works out wonderfully!

These larger figures haven't significantly changed - from left to right is the official Tomy and dome fossil, a gold buildable Kabutops from a Gold/Silver figure set, a bootlegged Tomy Kabutops and a bootlegged Battle Museum figure (both of which my girlfriend got me haha) There was a lot off ebay that ended about a month ago that had a legit Kabutops Battle Museum figure - if anyone knows anything about it, let me know!

Here's all of the minimodels I have so far of Kabuto/Kabutops - most of them were bought from kassia9 a long while ago, while the leftmost Kabuto was from the Smorgasbord GA (also a while ago!) I'm still looking for any other colors out there that I don't already have ^_^

Minifigures! One of the first purchases I made on the comm was to foureyedalien, who sold me the clear and normal colored figures in the middle - at first, I thought they were booties, but upon further examination, they turned out to be 151 figures, as mew_luvs_mewtwo pointed out to me ^_^ From them, I got the left Kabutops, who is a pencil topper, and the Shiny Kabutops 151 figure, who is green O_o So very strange... haha anywho, the larger die was from my first purchase off Y!J, while the two smaller Kabutopses and the Kabuto on top were won from my and nagaineko's Dice and Other Things GA ^_^ They're so detailed! I couldn't get a decent enough lighting for a detailed picture that they deserve, so this'll have to suffice for now! There's also a metal Johto Kabutops charm from schenzi :D

Here's a nifty buildable/posable Kabutops from lady_avii, Kabuto and Kabutops FCS figures from pegasus2010, and a Kabuto Battle Museum figure that's missing his black base D; As previously stated, if anyone has the Kabutops Battle Museum figure, lemme know ^_^

Below are all of the miscellaneous things that didn't really fit anywhere else haha - there's two battling spinny top coin things that I got from ebay, two marbles from gengareric and the light blue from meeka_meerkat, the two bottlecaps from growly, and various pogs and such from people/sources that I don't remember! :P

And lastly, more miscellaneous flats! There's some pan stickers, BK movie card, a giant sticker from poke_zula, a stamp from eeveelutiongirl, and two Bandai sticker cards! They're really neat :D

Oh! and I got these two in the mail recently :D A Kabutops Monsters Collection and Kabuto carddass! :D I also have a Kabutops carddass card on its way! If you have the Kabuto Monsters Collection card, lemme know! ^_^

The back of this particular Kabutops card shows one of the few instances of an actual animal in the Pokemon world - here, Kabutops is killing a prehistoric fish >:D

So, a bit of history before we get to the really exciting bit - I had first joined pkmncollectors back in June, nearly half a year ago, looking for something to fill up a display box I had gotten from Home Depot. My introductory post was made when I had all of one item in my collection, the (legit) Tomy Kabutops, and I had joined with the specific intention of acquiring a Kabutops Metal Collection figure or some other merchandise to fill out the rest of the box:

After 5 months on here, I ended up with a small fair dececnt tonof cool items, but never a Metal kabutops that I had first longed for. By now, it was elevated to holy grail status for me - finding one would've been the best thing evar! I had put aside the box, since my collection of things had far outgrown what that little thing could hold.

And then...the Metal Figure GAs started. You all remember, when we had GA after GA of metal figures from Y!J like every other day? At the same time, raz2b (who already has a metal Kabutops), came into posession of another, a Gold Kabutops and they decided to auction it. I jumped on that opportunity, and won it! :D Shipping from Australia takes a while, though, so I bided my time away...until a new message in my inbox offered me another: a Gunmetal Kabutops, which I heartily accepted! And then...if my luck wasn't absurdly awesome enough, one more message came in my inbox, this one offering yet another: a Copper Kabutops! THREE HOLY GRAILS IN LESS THAN A WEEK?! Needless to say, I was a very happy camper.

Fast forward a few weeks for shipping time, and now, I have these in my possesion:

OHMAHGURD THEY'RE SO AWESOME!!!
*cue obligatory additional pictures*

Granted, I know that middle Kabuto isn't the same color as his Kabutops counterpart is...but alas! (if you do have a shiny shiny gold Kabuto, though, let me know :D) Aaaaaaahhh, joyous days!

Once I had them all, I recalled the very first purchase I had made on this community - buying that copper Kabuto from caffwin, who, incidentally, was the same person who offered me Copper Kabutops! :O The circle was now complete, as some may say. After five months of meeting cool people and buying a bunch of cool stuff (I was happy, if not my wallet XD), I finally got that which I had joined in the first place to get :D

Shortly thereafter, I remembered my little display box that I had put aside, blew off the dust, and now...

That geotag's a perfect little centerpiece for it all ^_^ And at night, it gets even cooler!

:D

Lastly, a quick question - I had recently found and bought these two shitajiki off of ebay:

I only wanted the Kabutops one, so I was wondering as to the rarity of the Seel/Dratini one, and whether anyone would be interested in it ^_^ Oh, and speaking of inquiring about interest, looky what I got off Y!J!

These metal figures'll mostly be up for sale/auction after the New Year ^_^

Thanks for reading!
