Hi comm

I need your help badly please! I'm in a bad situation, as something unexpected happened with a plushie I sold.

If you remember, recently I held the plush auction on which kingwillko won the swampert. Today kingwillko contacted me with suspicions that swampert could be bootlegged because its hang tag and the tush tag don't match

I looked up the nintendo world on wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_World_Store

Says the store opened in May 14, 2005. I don't think if a pokedoll was released in 2004, by 2005 they probably would still sell it

Actually watch out for that. Nintendo world is only the name of the store AFTER they closed the pokemon center. So it was probably left over stock from when they shut down.

New York (Nintendo World Store)
Opened November 16, 2001
10 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, 10020
Phone: (212) 307-0900
In January 2005, Pokémon Center New York closed for remodeling. It reopened as a general Nintendo store called Nintendo World on May 14, 2005,

Taken from Bulbapedia.

So the 2004 is very possible. Also I don't understand why the hang tag and tush tag don't match. They are both state 2004 Swampert.

It's possible that the Pokedoll was leftover stock from the Pokemon Center that was then re-priced at Nintendo World. I'm not sure what stock transferred over or what NW's inventory was like when they re-opened, but from past experience, I can say that they order Pokedolls in bulk. It sometimes takes months or even years for their Pokedoll stock to get rotated out. (Which, incidentally, is why they had a wall full of Grimers one time I went there.)

That's a good point, didn't even think to question that. I have a 2005 plusle pokedoll and my cousin got it at an expo where they were giving out official pokedoll prizes, and it is Japanese. Has the same Japanese tush tag as yours but the hang tag is in Japanese so seems like they would match?

Yea he got in cuz he got a part-time gig with a online video game review website (soooo lucky, I wanted to go!). I do have a 2001 1:1 Cyndaquil plush I got from NY pokemon center and both the hang tag and tush tag are in English. On the paper tag, there is a barcode printed on the tag itself. In addition to that, there is another barcode sticker placed on top that says Pokemon USA. Here is a picture:

Would it be fair to compare a pokedoll with a pokecen plush?

Since the condition of the plush is not in question but just the tags, I thought I'd share what the old paper tags would look like before NY Pokemon Center became Nintendo World (I hope I'm not offending you!) :

I'm not offended, I just dont believe you are comparing red apples to red apples

1- the tag of a plush is not the same of a doll
2- plush is made by a third party (TOMY), I'm not sure about the doll :(

I'm not upset, again, I don't believe is a fair comparison, thats all
