Here is the full on text of the patent, I just read through it all:
http://appft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PG01&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsrchnum.html&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=%2220070291710%22.PGNR.&OS=DN/20070291710&RS=DN/20070291710

It's a bit wordy and very long, but from the sound of it, it is trying to be like amazon.com, where, when you order something, it automatically marks you as liking it so when you order again, it will show you things closer to what you "may" like. In the starbucks example, say you like a vanillia chai, when you order again, vanilla chai and maybe cinnamon chai would be at the top of the list of drinks to order. This is at least what I am gathering from it.

Keep tabs on orders sadly happens all the time. Ever wonder why when you check out they sometimes ask you for your phone number? They use that or your credit card to keep track of what you order in their systems to see what peoples demographics and buying tendencies are. Luckily, at least when you pay cash you can just tell them you don't want to give them your phone number.

In your example if you browsed an iphone or a website or whatever with a personal toy, or bought it in that way instead of in person, then yes, they will probably mark down that you bought that and keep that on your record, though I don't think they would include more adult stores on the iphone... at least.... not in the beginning.
