Hi. So, my self-imposed exile is over. I had my exam last Wednesday and now my course is over for the year. Provided that I have passed and I'll admit that I am confident that I have (also less confident about having achieved a good grade) then that was my last exam. I do have one final course but it is a project course so no exam - hurrah!
Anyway, it is my intention from her on to return to mainly posting my fanart. I'm not really into updating people on my every move... I'm really not that interesting... although I do set on fire if you hold a magnifying glass to me...
Anyway, that being said, it is likely that I will continue to interject my fanart entries with the occassional post about something fun and exciting that I did. Fun and exciting for me... you're not obliged to concur. Which brings me to the main point of this entry: fun and exciting things I did on "study breaks":
The REM gig of Aug 24th this year was awesome. The best gig I've been to in terms of line-up. For me at least. Guillemots (brilliant as ever), Editors (as previously suspected - a great stadium sound) and REM (who seriously rocked!!!). REM are one of my all time favourite bands and the first band I ever saw live (in 1995). So, seeing them again supported by Editors and Guillemots was a truly astounding event for me! I yelled, clapped and danced my way through all three sets.
I went to the gig with Laura and Law from Guillemots' forum and Mr Paul Gregory. Although the REM fanclub wristband holders were allowed in first, I managed to get positioned between and behind two people who were up against the barrier so my view was great.
Here are some of my photos. Most of them are blurred. Especialy my Guillemots one. I was that hyper that I was shaking whilst taking the photos. I need a superstrength anti-shake setting... or to calm down or something...

Laura actually came for the whole bank holiday weekend and, as well as the gig, we had some good times. These included getting me on the Manchester Eye (a large big wheel overlooking the city of Manchester for those of you not resident in the UK) which wasn't half as scary as I'd imagined it would be (thankfully). Although, I didn't like it when my Paul stared rocking the carriage. Because he's evil. Not that evil though because he then took us up to Bar23 (aka The Sky Bar) in the Manchester Hilton and bought us all exhortionatley priced cocktails. Huzzah!

Many of the events I found myself pursuing this summer gone involved liberal bursts of adrenaline. So, it was a most pleasant change of pace to be invited to dinner by Nook and Michelle. Also in attendance, my Paul and Paul Gregory. And baby Ethan, of course. Who made my eating habits look respectable.
The food was excellent - Nook makes the best guacemole ever! I don't always even like guacemole but I couldn't stop eating Nook's. Trust me, it's delicious.
We followed food with the movie Be Kind, Rewind. Nook and I had already watched and enjoyed this movie at the cinema and we were both hopeful that the others would love it to. They did. Hurrah! I actually think I enjoyed it even more the second time round; probably because of the environment, it's a real social film with a sense of community and best enjoyed socially. Not that we talked through it at all but I did feel all warm and fuzzy at the end due to that sense of shared experience that comes from mutual enjoyment.
The evening finished with some Wii multiplayer games. I managed to shark everyone and win at the ten-pin bowling! A marked improvement on my genuine bowling skills! I sucked at the baseball. Too much like rounders for my liking!

Paul and I went to see the comedian Tim Michin this Thursday gone and he was brilliant. His humour is very dark and he has an often ingenuous style of presentation that is belied by the vocabulary and the sophisticated use of expression that he employs in his songs. He was well received by the audience, a good proportion of whom gave him a standing ovation at the end (myself included).
These photos were taken with my shiny new Lumix DMC TZ5 camera. It has a 10x optical zoom. The full capacity of my zoom was not required for many of these photos because (thanks to Laura and her heads-up), I had booked early and Paul and I had row D seats. Yay!

And finally...
I hadn't been to the Punjab for a few years but the food was just as good. I love the Dosa starters although I never seem to learn that I should order one as a main course because they are just so huge!

That is all. Next entry: fanart. I finally have free time to Photoshop again. Yay! I hope I haven't become too rusty!
