Sexy Ribs (aka The Sweater I Knit on My Winter Vacation) is finished! I sewed in the sleeves* and stitched up the front neckline detail last night while watching "Superman Returns" (meh).
It still needs some gentle steam blocking, which should take care of some minor issues in the shoulder-seam area of the neckline, where the drop-stitch ribbing switches to regular k2p2 ribbing and pulls in a bit, creating a weird little point at the seam.
It remains to be seen whether I'll be able to wear it over bare skin; while the yarn (a kid mohair-silk blend from Dicentra Designs) is wicked soft to knit, the mohair content may still be too itchy for prolonged wear, and the open areas created by the stitch pattern, if not actually revealing, are a little ... breezy ... for winter wear. No matter; I have a couple of lightweight WinterSilks turtlenecks that would work just fine underneath it.
There will be pictures before the weekend is out.
And now the decks are cleared for lace!!! I'm going to sit down this afternoon with Victorian Lace Today and my lace yarn stash and start matching up patterns and yardage.
