Exciting April

Surprisingly, it's actually been a while since I've wrote an entry here. As I mentioned many weeks ago, I wrote the log of my trip while I was actually in Hawaii, and I only did some editing before posting them. So what have I been up to lately? The short answer is not much. The long answer is I feel into a despair cycle. I got angst-y about the state of my life right now. I feel like I should be further along than I actually am right now, and I'm disappointed in myself that I'm not. It started as a bout of post trip depression, then extended into a full-bore depression when it seems nothing I applied to in February payed off. Not only did I not get one interview, but I actually had to contact most of the place I applied to only to find out that I didn't get the job. It's frustrating. And then this protracted winter was getting me disappointed that I couldn't go out on my bike. So I fell off my exercise and applying regimens.  It was pretty bad. I think I'm getting better though.I remember feeling like this the last time too. So I'm trying to stay positive, despite the lack of activity.

So what did I do with my time? Mostly play and finish up video games I've started. I beat the latest Professor Layton game, which I had been playing since Texas. Despite the protracted amount of time it took to finish the game, I think it's was probably the best Layton game yet. The puzzles were good and felt mostly original, and the story was solid. I saw the "twist" coming from a mile away though, but the execution of the story was great, and they took it into a very poignant direction. The other game I've been playing was Radiant Historia, which I had started on the long flights to Hawaii. I heard great things about this game, and I am glad to say that the what you've heard about this game is true. It was 100% old school JRPG. It had a great score, and a good plot. The only downside I would say about it was that it really wasn't making the most of the DS. But I was throughly pleased with it.  I'd highly recommend it.

But enough dwelling on the past, it's time to look to the future. The next two weekends are looking pretty exciting for me. Next weekend is No Brand Con, so I'm looking forward to hanging out with friends there. Then, the weekend after that is the Cloud Cult show in Madison. I'll also be going to Studio Ghibli's latest while I"m in town too. I've also had an mini interview a couple days ago, and I'm scheduled to have another one on Monday. I'm really hoping this pans out for me because I think I'd be a good fit. So here's to hope for the future!
