Well, as you may have noticed (and if you haven't, just look at the entry previous to this one), I am dating an absolutely wonderful woman named Melissa. I've talked about her before, but I'm not going to let a piddling thing like that stop me :-P She's totally incredible. We've been friends for a couple years now, and I know I can rely on her when I'm feeling down. We've helped each other struggle through a lot of stuff, and I think it has made us closer friends. She's totally off-the-wall goofy, which is great because that's how I am a lot of the time too. She's very smart, which means I don't have to explain *all* my jokes to her (just the ones about computers) :-) She puts up remarkably well with the fact that I am a total and utter geek, which is always good.
This past weekend was Easter, and my parents invited her to stay with us for Easter. That way she get to meet them (joy) and I get to spend Easter with not only my family, but my splendiferous girlfriend. Needless to say, I had an excellent weekend. She got along quite well with my parents, and they certainly seem to like her a lot. I know she and my sister got along quite well, which is a big plus in my book. I love my little sister to death (she just got her temps a week ago, and actually starting operating a motor vehicle for the first time yesterday. Everybody congratulate Michelle!), and so that's a good thing.
So that's the big major important happy news in my life. As to work, it's going OK. They were going to give us fulltime status if we were willing to work split shift schedules (0600-1000 and 1400-1800, M-F). Unfortunately, they weren't able to manage that, it would mess up their "numbers" too much. However, rather than just schedule us as parttime employees, which would be a strictly 20-hour/week schedule, they offered us (on a completely voluntary basis) 40 hours, working the split shifts. Still parttime status for benefits, but at least we're getting the hours (and therefore, the pay). Plus, I think (I hope) it will put us in higher consideration when they do have more fulltime slots open. And it is nice having weekends off. The only major downside is having to get up at 4:30 in the morning, which means having to go to bed insanely early (for me). Like, 10:30. Whoa. On the plus side, I do get a 4 hour lunch, which means a nice 2 hour nap in the middle of the day.
So that's my update. Can't wait for Saturday.....
