A/N: HI GUYS! I am sooo so soo sorry about the long wait, I’m getting ready to start University soon, so I haven’t been too focused on this. I hope this extra long chapter makes up for it though! Again, please tell me if something doesn’t make sense and/or is confusing so I can fix/clarify it!
**LEETEUK’S POV**
I stared ,dumbfounded, as Heechul finished talking. I don't know who was more shocked between Kangin and I, but I figured we were both thinking the same thing; who exactly was this man and what had he done with the self-proclaimed cold-hearted Kim Heechul?
"Yah! I'm talking to you! Don't you dare ignore me!" Heechul's irate voice brought me out of my trance and I opened my mouth sheepishly to voice what was bothering me, but Kangin beat me to the punch.
"I knew you weren't the unfeeling bastard you tried so hard to be!"; Kangin all but shouted, with a smug grin on his face.
"What he means is” I said, elbowing Kangin and smiling with satisfaction at the yelp he let out, "we didn't know anyone else noticed how Yesungie has been behaving lately"
"Are you questioning my intelligence? In case you forgot, I’m way smarter than that dumb oaf you call your boyfriend, and probably even you!"
There was the Heechul I knew and (sometimes) loved. Finally convinced that this wasn't all a hallucination conjured up by my sleep-deprived mind, I opened my mouth, only to have Kangin interrupt once more. Clearly he hadn't realized that questioning Heechul when he was in one of his obey-me-or-else moods was like waving a red flag in front of an angry bull.
"I didn't realize you were so concerned about Yesung. Hyung, if I didn't know better, I’d say that you've grown to like him!" crowed a still-smug Kangin
"I..I..that has nothing to do with it! I just don’t want him moping around! He gives off a negative energy and you know I can’t have that! I might get wrinkles!..Yeah": Heechul protested, jumping up from the sofa as if something had pricked him
...riiiiiiiight, I thought to myself as Kangin and I shared a meaningful look. Clearly, Heechul was not going to go around professing his love for his band brothers just yet. Rolling my eyes once more as Kangin muttered something about denial not being just a river in Egypt, I hurriedly changed the subject before Heechul decided that he had made a mistake coming to us and changed his mind. Shutting Kangin up with a sharp glare, I pulled Heechul back down to the sofa and the rest of the night flew by as we whispered heatedly over what the best course of action to take was.
**KANGIN’S POV**
"I still don't understand why we can't just barge in there and have a confrontation!" Heechul whined days later as they observed Yesung from their hiding spot.
"Stop being so impatient! We didn’t come up with a fool proof plan just to end up confronting him!"
"...I would hardly call our plan to follow the poor boy around and compliment him like crazy a fool-proof one Kangin" said Heechul, rolling his eyes
“Don’t look at me! It was all Leeteuk's idea! You know how he is...kept going on and on about how he read somewhere that depressed kids need people to constantly follow them around and shower them with compliments and smiles.”
"I don’t see you complaining when I do all that for you Kangin" Leeteuk purred as he stepped closer to me and put his arms on my chest, daring me to protest. Smirking when I didn't, he dropped his hands and stepped back.
"Damn tease" I growled, rolling my eyes as a giggling Heechul whispered something to Leeteuk who promptly burst out into raucous laughter
“Hehe yea yea just watch, I’ll get you later! But for now, let’s focus on what's really important” I grumbled, edging away from the laughing duo and moving closer to the edge of the wall behind which the three of us were huddled, keeping an eye on Yesung who was passed out on the sofa with an arm tossed casually above his eyes. Seeing the slow rise and fall of his chest, I was reassured that he was sleeping and turned around to face the troublesome twosome, rolling my eyes when I saw that Heechul had somehow managed to trip Leeteuk and lay splayed across his chest, still quivering with laughter. And they wonder why I don’t use honorifics with either of them. Seriously, who could believe these two were the oldest of the group when they acted like this? I stood there tapping my foot and finally the two realized what I was waiting for and straightened up, both a bit pink in the face
“Are you done?”: I asked reveling in the feeling of being the mature one. Encouraged by the sheepish nods I received as an answer, I kept pacing around the dimly-lit hallway, wondering why nothing seemed to be going according to plan
"I don't understand why this isn't working!" groaned a frustrated Heechul, voicing the very thought that was echoing around my mind. For days we had been utilizing our plan-follow Yesung and make sure he is never left alone. Force him to open up and make him feel good about himself by complimenting him on everything and anything. Heechul had taken to praising Yesung’s artistic vocals for hours on an end, provoking curious glances from the rest of the members. Leeteuk had been following Yesung around the dorms, practice rooms and pretty much any other place where they both happened to be at, trying to “help” him out by watching over everything he did. I had been a bit more subtle and had merely offered a kind smile and greeting every time we crossed paths.
All in all, we had been playing our parts to perfection, save for the fact that the rest of our members thought that we were all slowly going insane. But other than that, our plan was working. Only it seemed to be having the opposite effect from what we desired; he was quieter now than he had been before and I could have sworn I heard muffled sobs coming from his room when I got up at two in the morning to use the toilet the other day.
"Give it time Heechul!" Leeteuk whispered furiously, trying to keep his voice down.
“That’s what you’ve been saying for the past three days! I don’t care; I’m going to go talk to him now” Heechul all but stomped to living room, knocking over the stack of DVDs situated next to the flat-screen TV. Wincing at the sound made as the plastic smacked against the glossy wooden floorboards, I grabbed Heechul’s arm before he could do any more damage.
“Don’t be stupid Heechul, what is confronting him going to do? He just needs some time! Now shut up before you ruin our hard work!”
“Yah, I’m your hyung, where is the respect? I will not stand for this you lazy bas-” Heechul was abruptly cut off when I slapped a hand over his mouth roughly. Seeing Heechul getting ready to retaliate, I grabbed the older man and pointed out that Yesung had now woken up and was looking around the room with a suspicious expression on his face.
Correctly interpreting Leeteuk’s animated gestures, I ushered Heechul back to the room Leeteuk shared with Donghae which doubled as our headquarters for operation make-yesung-not-emo, or MYNE for short.
“Well that plan worked out reeeaal well didn’t it Leeteuk-sshi”: that’s Heechul for you alright; I wonder if a day would ever come when he didn’t have a single complaint. One can hope, but this is Heechul, the resident drama queen, we’re talking about after all.
“It would have if you would have waited some more!” for a leader, Leeteuk was especially clueless; didn’t he realize that we had better things to do then incur the wrath of One with milky-white skin?
“Well forgive me if I don’t want to wait until I grow old and wrinkly and -“
“Oh, would the two of you quit your bickering? What we need now is a new plan, and this time, let’s make sure it is one that actually works.”
A/N: soooo, what do you think? Does it make sense? Comments are very much appreciated <333
