Stop, fanmix time.

Seriously folks! Another fanmix!
(Oh, by the way.. sorry about the whole not posting for three weeks thing, as I'm sure you have all noticed before I am very lazy, so lazy in fact that I can't even muster enough motivation to blog, how sad. And yet.. I am not too lazy to compile an entire fanmix? It's a strange, flat world we live in.)

This time it's an Office fanmix, and it is comprised entirely of songs from.. *drumroll* musicals. Yeah, bet you never thought you'd hear me of all people say that, since the only musicals I actually like are Rocky Horror Picture Show and all the requisite Disney movies I watched as a kid. But the mix is for this month's theme over at fanmix , which is entitled "Life's a Cabaret", and the challenge is to make mixes that are only songs from musicals. Which I somehow managed to do. But not without help. Lots and lots of help from my friend Becca, and I would like to thank Becca, and give her mad props, for basically being my co-pilot for this mix, and not only helping me figure out which songs would work for people's personalities, but for also, you know, finding songs from musicals for me, since I am definitely not a musical-type person, and well Becca, she's obsessed, love ya Becs.

Now onto the mix!

Note: Since I felt they were needed this time around, my notes about the songs will be in italics. And the character the song is for will be in bold. Easy stuff to figure out, but hey, we can't all be the brightest bulbs in the tanning bed. And I even included quotes for some of the songs.

Jim
1. Nowhere Man - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
(This is definitely more of a season 1-2ish Jim song, but I really couldn't find anything I liked better for Jim. Oh, and a note on the song.. it is not actually the version from the movie, but I like The Beatles' version better anyways.)
"Because right now, this is a job. If I advance any higher, this would be my career. And if this were my career, I'd have to throw myself in front of a train."

He's a real nowhere Man,
Sitting in his Nowhere Land,
Making all his nowhere plans
for nobody.

Pam
2. I Won't Say I'm in Love - Hercules
(Definitely pre-season 4 Pam, but besides that, pretty self-explanatory.)

I thought my heart had learned its lesson
It feels so good when you start out
My head is screaming get a grip, girl
Unless you're dying to cry your heart out

Michael
3. Hakuna Matata - Lion King
(Kinda random, but I thought it fit.)

It's our problem-free philosophy
Hakuna Matata!

Dwight
4. Reefer Madness - Reefer Madness
"Marijuana leads to crack which leads to crystal meth which leads to death!"
(That quote is from the outtakes of season 2, if you were wondering :D)

See the kids! Precious kids!
Yes, their heads are on the chopping block
and someone's got to dare to take a stand
Can't ignore any more, it could be your son or daughter
With a deadly stick of reefer in their hand!

Kelly
5. By the Sea - Sweeney Todd
(I think you'll probably understand this song choice more if you've seen Sweeney Todd, but whether you've seen it or not, it still works.)
"If Ryan is laid off I will kill myself. Like Romeo and Juliet. The Claire Danes one."

By the sea, Mr. Todd, that's the life I covet,
By the sea, Mr. Todd, ooh, I know you'd love it!
You and me, Mr. T, we could be alone
In a house wot we'd almost own,
Down by the sea!
Wouldn't that be smashing?

Ryan
6. Perfect isn't Easy - Oliver and Company
(Because he's kind of an arrogant bitch.)

Perfect isn't easy
But it's me

Angela
7. Naming of Cats - Cats
(I wish I could've found a song more about Angela, but nothing really worked, so I went with this, because I felt it was best suited to Angela, since we all know how she loves her cats.)
"I sing and I dangle things in front of my cats."

The naming of cats is a difficult matter
It isn't just one of your holiday games
You may think at first I'm as mad as a hatter
When I tell you a cat must have three different names

Jan
8. I'm not Wearing Underwear Today - Avenue Q*
(Well.. this is self explantory.)

Still none the less I gotta say
That I'm not wearing underwear today

Toby
9. The Mob Song - Beauty and the Beast
(While listening to this song, think of Michael as all the people who want to kill the beast, and think of Toby as the beast. Oh, and there's three quotes for this one because there was no way to choose just one Michael hating on Toby quote.)
Michael on Toby: "Toby is in HR which technically means he works for Corporate. So he's really not a part of our family. Also he's divorced so he's really not a part of his family."
"Why are you the way that you are? Honestly, every time I try to do something fun or exciting, you make it not... that way. I hate so much about the things that you choose to be."
"Toby now has the floor... and he is going to try not to screw this up, like everything else in his life."

We're not safe until he's dead
He'll come stalking us at night
Set to sacrifice our children to his monstrous appetite
He'll wreak havoc on our village if we let him wander free

Kevin
10. Food Glorious Food - Oliver!
(Once again, pretty self explantory.)

Food, glorious food!
Hot sausage and mustard!
While we're in the mood --
Cold jelly and custard!
Pease pudding and saveloys!

Stanley
11. Black Boys - Hair
(This song is so completely wrong for Stanley, but I thought it would be funny to use it.)

Black boys are delicious
Chocolate flavored love
Licorice lips like candy

Karen
12. Cell Block Tango - Chicago*
(So, she's not technically on the show anymore, but she seemed like the revenge type of gal to me, and I thought this song would work really well for her, and I figured why not throw it in.)

He had it coming
He had it coming
He only had himself to blame
If you'd have been there
If you'd have seen it
I betcha you would have done the same!

Oscar
13. If You Were Gay - Avenue Q
(I think you can figure this one out yourselves.)
Michael talking to Oscar: "If I don't know how to behave, it is because I am just so far the opposite way, you know? I'm just... I, I can't even imagine... the... thing. Maybe we could go out for a beer sometime. And you could tell me... how... you do that to another dude."

Well, okay, but just so you know -
If you were gay
That'd be okay.
I mean 'cause, hey,
I'd like you anyway.
Because you see,
If it were me,
I would feel free
To say that I was gay
(But I'm not gay.)

Andy
14. I Wanna be like You - The Jungle Book
(Because all he wants is to be like Michael. Or, to be like Michael enough that’ll Michael will make Andy his number 2.)
“I'll be the Number Two guy here in Scranton in six weeks. How? Name repetition, personality mirroring, and never breaking off a handshake. I'm always thinking one step ahead. Like a carpenter that makes stairs.”

Oh, oobee doo
I wanna be like you
I wanna walk like you
Talk like you, too

Dwight & Angela
15. Dammit JanetAngela - Rocky Horror Picture Show
(I felt this would be an appropriate Dwangela song.)
Dwight: “I'll just stand up in front of the office and reveal our true love.”

The river was deep but I swam it, JanetAngela
The future is ours so let's plan it, JanetAngela
So please don't tell me to can it, JanetAngela
I've one thing to say and that's
Dammit, JanetAngela, I love you...

Michael & Jan
16. I’ll Make a Man out of You - Mulan
(Jan has indeed made a man out of Michael. Kinda.)

But you can bet
Before we're through
Mister, I'll make a man out of you

Jim & Pam
17. At the Beginning - Anastasia
(One word: awwww!)

No one told me
I was going to find you
Unexpected
What you did to my heart
When I lost hope
You were there to remind me
This is the start

All
18. Let the Good Times Roll - Blues Brothers
(So, this song is actually just played in the background in Blues Brothers, so technically it’s not really from a musical, like the rest of the songs on here, but it was in a musical, and that is all I need! On another note, I really couldn’t think of a quote for this one, except for the one I used, which is okay I suppose.)
Michael: “This place is not prison. It's... way better than prison.”

Hey everybody, let’s have fun
You only live but once and when you’re dead you’re done
You better let the good times roll
