Weekend update...

It's been ages since I last posted to my journal, because I am SO busy!  Yes, I'm very busy.   I haven't run over any woodland creatures since my last post, thank heavens!  I've been TOO busy to chase deer, I guess.

We have been busy preparing for our External Evaluation (the Ministry of Education evaluates us every six years) and it has taken lots of time and effort.  They came last week and it turned out very well.  There were four of them and they loved us and the school and there were kudos all round.  They actually told me that my policy binder was exemplary!!  :)  It is a big relief, because if you don't get a good report you can lose your 50% funding which would more or less (probably more!) close the school.  Thank the heavens above that's over!

I am crazy looking forward to Fun Fair this year as practically everyone I love (except Brig, who can't come and Sue who won't) is coming to play with me...and it's PIRATES!!  My costume is ready and I can't wait.  I put up the big sign up sheet for volunteers and it's already almost full with my family and friends.  Whoo-hoo!!  SO looking forward to it.  I hope no one jams out on me (other than Brig) or they will have to WALK THE PLANK!!  (There be a warning in there, mateys!!)

Brig's birthday was Wed. the 18th and my friend Sue Thompson was over from the Mainland.  Meg and Travis came over for dinner (and to watch ANTM and LOST but they were too tired to stay and watch LOST and besides I couldn't not visit with Sue so of course it wasn't as much fun without me (!!) so they left early) and we were calling Brig to wish her a happy birthday (she and Rod were out for a romantic dinner).  When I called her, she told me she was in an ambulance on the way to the hospital!  She had passed out twice in the restaurant because of low blood pressure.  Apparently, she was taking some meds that lowered her pressure and then she gave blood and drank wine with dinner and it wasn't a good combo.  We drove over to see her at Saanich Peninsula Hosp. but she seemed pretty good so we were quite relieved.  You aren't supposed to spend your birthday in the hospital, Brigid!!  Don't you know that??

It's been old friend month!  My dear friend from Ontario, Barbara McCowan, called me this week to say that she and her husband (John) were in town for a conference and they wrapped up on Friday.  They drove up to us last night for dinner and an overnight before they headed up Island to Tofino, Campbell River and back to Cowichan Bay to visit her mum and dad.  It was SO lovely to see them and to catch up on all the news.  I just love her to bits, cause she is one of the sweeties of the world!!    So first Sue and then Barbara!!  Next weekend, our dear Shirley Thompson is coming over for the weekend and on the 17th we get our dear Hacketts (as long as Meg and Travis don't steal them!!!  Warning -- no stealing of Hacketts will be tolerated!!!) and then our dear Doris is coming after that!!  It's amazing to have so many visitors coming one after the other!!  Whoopee!!

I have been having some gurgly things happening in my gut since I had my gall bladder surgery and the doctor is sending me for a stress test (go figure!) next week.  I think I'm feeling stressed out about the stress test!!  I would like to figure out what the problem is but sometimes I think finding out is harder than the symptoms.

My hair is starting to grow back and I can just imagine in another few months how freaky and sticking up it's going to be.  I haven't been particularly cold, so haven't been wearing a hat or scarf or anything much yet.  Mind you, today was so warm!  Barbara, John and I walked down to Mattick's (they were treating me to breakfast) and I had to take my jacket off on the way back up the hill, it was SO warm.

Well, I guess I will go and make dinner.  What a nice lazy day it seems to have been.
I hope you are all happy and lazy and eating good food and listening to good music and as "pleased" as I am!
Love,
Penny
