Appreciation

Thank you for all of the things that we did,
And all that we never got done.
Thank you for using all my energy,
Then teaching me just how to run.
Thank you for bringing me closer to God,
Then making it hard to believe.
Thank you for never encouraging me,
Then helping me learn to achieve.

Thank you for giving me nothing to laugh at,
And letting me learn to shed tears.
Thank you for all of the time that we had,
Thank you for only one year.
Thank you for taking me back to my childhood,
Thank you for taking my youth.
Thank you for all of the lies that you told,
Thank you for all of your truth.

Thank you for not wanting me to be close,
But weeping whenever we'd part.
Thank you for being the love of my life,
Thank you for breaking my heart.
Thank you for not knowing how to say sorry,
Thank you for always forgiving.
Thank you for telling me life isn't fair,
But showing me life is worth living.
