Meteors and other things

Well, they are upon us once again, those pesky Perseids. Last year I didn't get a chance to catch any of the showers, this year I'm hoping I can get some good sky-watching time in. If the weather is clear Thursday night I'm hoping to make a trip out to the beach where there shouldn't be too much light and catch me some Perseids. I'm thinking I'll come home and get to sleep early, then maybe wake up around 2:00 and take a drive out there. Ideally I'd like to go out to Robert Moses, but I might just go to Jones. I'm not sure how strict they are about people being on the beach at night, hopefully I won't have any problems.

I finished Coyote Blue the other day, which means I have no more Christopher Moore books to read :( I'll have one more when The Stupidest Angel comes out in paperback, then nothing till he writes another one. Oh so sad :( Interesting that I left Coyote Blue for last, being that it's a little about Shamanism. I decided to go back to my stack of non-fiction, starting with The Book of Shamanic Healing. After that I'm going to read The Clock of the Long Now and then hopefully another Brian Greene book, The Fabric of the Cosmos.

In other news, all day today I've felt like throwing myself off a bridge for some reason. This is new to me, I don't remember ever feeling quite like this. I just can't shut my brain off and it's driving me crazy and pissing me off and for some reason jumping off a bridge popped into my head today. I'm not actually considering it, it's just interesting that the notion popped into my head, I think it's the first time I've ever really thought about it. I need some more distractions. Either that or a libotomy.

books, angst, perseids
