In case you were not aware, we ex-DECies can't let the company die.
I belong to a group called the DREGs (Digital Retirees and Employees Group). We started as a small group of employees in Connecticut who genuinely missed each other's company and decided to get together for drinks and appetizers one Friday a month at an On The Border in Rocky Hill, CT where our once-great office was located. The group has since grown and evolved into a network of ex-DECies from all over the Northeast who drop in when time and location allow. Unfortunately, being in NYC with an incredibly busy schedule, I haven't been able to attend a meeting in person in years. I do enjoy keeping up with the monthly newsletters, which is what brings me to post today. Thanks to my old boss, the latest newsletter contained several interesting links, including Gordon Bell's Cyber Museum to Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC). Microsoft is a natural fit for ex-DECies, the culture is very similar and there are many of us hidden all over the company. Nice to see my new company paying homage to my first and fondest :)
