Maybe it was the post-turkey tryptophan, but I've had some dreams that really have given me anxiety are are slightly scary.
Not nightmarishily scary, but shudder scary.
On Saturday, it was rats. Not a lot of them like in "The Last Crusade" and they weren't controlled by a guy like in "Willard."
There were just two of them, and they were eating off the floor.
But they weren't rabid, ravenous rats. They were just chilling and they had cartoonishly large round black noses. It wasn't enough for me to really question their existince, but enough for me to think, "Wow, that's weird."
But not nearly as weird as Sunday.
Saturday started off with a dream about high school. Except in this high school I had classes starting at 8 and it was like a ten class day. So actually it's reminscent of my college dream about always being late for class, or missing a class because I forgot I had it.
And the dream is basically me trying to remember what classes I had, and when I remember I don't go into the classes because I haven't been to them in over a month, and I already know I'm in trouble for not going, and I don't want to be embarassed when I show up and someone says, "Where have you been for a month?"
So I just wander around aimlessly and waiting for a class I recognize that I know I've been to.
The second half of the night on Sunday was just eery, and I don't remember the transition from the high school dream to this one.
The theme?
I was Chris Melloni's ghost.
Except Chris Melloni isn't dead.
The dream was this I was lying in bed thinking I was there. When I heard this voice. And then suddenly I was over the voices shoulder, it was a kid in a bellhop's uniform with a digital picture he had just taken. I looked up and saw nothing in the bed, but when I looked through his view finder I saw the face of a ghostly Chris Melloni. And I realize that I'm Chris Melloni, and suddenly I'm back in the bed and I feel like I'm trapped.
And the bellhop/ghost hunter asks me, "Are you there?" And I try to sit up but my body is stuck to the bed. And I remember from watching the show ghosthunters that it takes a lot of energy for a ghost to appear consciously so I stop struggling and just moan, "yes." And he asks me to tap out to yes and no questions.
And I don't remember what the questions were but I know I tapped once for no and three times for yes.
Sometimes I don't heart dreams.
