Why aren't I in bed?
I was really, really looking forward to bed.
In fact as I was driving home from work, and I was quite ecstatic about wrapping up in my comforters and go to bed.
Until I heard this song on the radio.
It's the new Avril Lavigne song, and it's called "Girlfriend."
A genius punk song about how a young woman feels strongly that a certain gentlemen's present girlfriend isn't up to her standards.
And by genius punk song, I mean shitty pop song.

It's a sound that is a mix of "Hey Mickey" and any song by "The Donnas." Both sounds are now not only unpopular but also not the least bit timely.
And then there are the lyrics:
"Hey, Hey, You, You/I don't like your girlfriend" -- Ok so she doesn't like his girlfriend. We all have friends with significant others we really don't like, so far I'm with you.
"You’re so fine/I want you mine/You’re so delicious/I think about ya all the time/You’re so addictive/Don’t you know what I could do to make you feel alright?/Don’t pretend I think you know I’m damn precious/And Hell Yeah/I’m the motherfucking princess/I can tell you like me too and you know I’m right" -- Whoa! "Motherfucking princess." Avril is showing what a real bad ass she is. Using the word "motherfucking" in the first verse of the song, to make sure there is shock value. Because let's face it, you ma'am are a true punk. With the bubble-gum laced harmony through-out this song, you are pushing the limits. Look out world, Avril means bidness!
"She’s like so whatever/You could do so much better/I think we should get together now/And that’s what everyone’s talking about!" -- Once again, she doesn't like his girlfriend. And look at that "She's like so whatever" she's mocking the dialect spoken by the chick. Oh Avril, will your cleverness ever cease?!
"In a second you’ll be wrapped around my finger/Cause I can, cause I can do it better/There’s no other/So when's it gonna sink in?/She’s so stupid/What the hell were you thinking?!" -- "Cause I do it better," this from the girl who on her last cd told us she, "wasn't going to give it up." Avril what happened in between albums that made you so experienced? And what the hell "were you" thinking. Obviously if you could have your choice between Avril and the girl your with now, you're going to pick Avril. I mean afterall she's a motherfucking princess.

At least with Fall Out Boy, I don't hate myself for singing along with it.
