So I'm currently almost finished with Lost Odyssey, which has pretty much become my Favorite Game Ever, and I don't have anything lined up to play when I'm done.
So.

I'd say it's worth tracking down a PSX memory card just because the backlog of RPGs on that console is so great and emulating is an enormous pain in the ass. TO THAT END I HOOKER OUT FINAL FANTASY IX, STRANGELY ENOUGH. It's still readily available and cheap cheap cheap. Breath of Fire III and IV are also good (and I&II are on the GBA and therefore playable on the DS, as well. I am fond of them but be warned that the encounter rate in BoFII is stupidly high).
- For the Gamecube, SKIES OF ARCADIA LEGENDS. Oldskool-style turn-based RPG with SKY PIRATES and the best weapon EVER: the TUNA CUTLASS. I would be remiss not to mention Tales of Symphonia, as well!
- Obligatory Knights of the Old Republic rec here. But also check out Jade Empire. Hot buttery wuxia action--and the gay option? IT'S AN ACTUAL OPTION IN THIS GAME. Both on the regular ol' X-Box
- DS: oh geez. LIST COULD BE HUGE because of GBA ports of SNES games and so on and so forth. But I'll just say Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates for now. The single-player campaign is short (but good), the multiplayer is AMAZINGLY FUN, and there's New Game+.
Or screw all these recommendations and pick up an SNES emulator and play Chrono Trigger.
