Ramblings

Having a good day today.  It's a holiday over here, but that has little to do with the fact that I'm off work.  I almost expected Borders to call me, seeing how crazy the store has been now that we've started our Going Out of Business sale.  Everything is 20-40% off in the store and people are trashing the place as they look through everything we have.  It's all final sale, too.  But, what surprises me the most is how cheap people are being.  Now, I'll admit, I have no idea if we are going to lower our prices the closer we get to April, when our store is supposed to finally close, but if you are coming in now and shopping, you get the prices we have, nothing else.  *frustrated sigh*

But right, day off.  This morning I spent at Curves, which was followed by my coming to my Grandma's house to do laundry.  With my Aunt Debbie and Uncle Fred at work and my Aunt DeeDee running around, I've had the house to myself and it's been heavenly.  Chiquita and Mimi have been pretty good, too, as good as dogs can be.

Curves is a women's gym I joined last week.  After making that post and talking to my Mom, she suggested I go have a look and see what I thought of the place.  We had a really good conversation where I told her I was ready to start exercising, only I wanted to try and find the place that was right for me.  In the past I have gone to co-ed gyms, but they always had me feeling awkward, especially around the men, and then there was always the "trying to figure out what machine to use" and "which machine did what for my body". Instead of feeling good with my workout, I was going in shy and leaving frustrated.  With Curves there is a set circut, machine and then recovery board, and you go around the circut circle twice and that's your workout.  I know exactly which machines I'm supposed to do, what each of them work on my body and I know exactly how long my workout is going to be (twice around the circut comes out to about 30min.).

Saturday I did some archery with my friend Sabrina and her sister Gaby.  Gaby is taking a class for her senior project, and Sabrina decided she'd give archery a go.  They asked if I was interested in joining them and I say "Sure, why not?"  It was a lot of fun!  I would love to go back and do it again.  The shooting gallery is indoors, and the instructor Harv is very nice and patient with beginners.  I had a little trouble at first, but soon got the hang of it.  Now, I'm not saying I was the best.  Far from it, my arrows tended to be all over the place, but I did my best and had a blast.  Only now my left arm, my bow arm, is super sore, lol.  Later that night I went with Sabrina and her friend Allie to dinner at Umami Burger in LA.  It was soooo good!
I have no pictures of me doing any archery, but on our way out of the shooting gallery, Sabrina had me stop to take a picture with one of the many animals that graced the walls:

It rained all the way to Umami Burger in LA.  Once we got to the restaurant, we put our names down and readied ourselves for an hour and a half wait.  To help pass the time, we headed over to Urban Outfitters and had fun trying on hats.  When Sabrina posted this picture on Facebook, the caption read, "Dana? Can you hear me?"

And lastly, the delicious Umami Burger:

House ground beef, oven-roasted tomatoes, caramelized onions, sauteed shiitake mushrooms, a parmesan chrisp and house made ketchup.  It was soooo good!
The only other thing I have to share is a link to see some pictures and video I took at Disney California Adventure last week for the new ride in Paradise Pier, The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Undersea Adventure.  Here is a little concept art for you:

I made a post for it at lil_zebra_media.  I've tried to post a link, but Lj is being mean and it keeps saying my "link can't be found", so I took it out.  If you are curious at all, you can just hop over to the community and check it out (I've only got two posts there, so it will be easy to find).

Bookwise, I finally got around to starting A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness.  About halfway in, and I'm enjoying it.  It started off very slow, but finally picked up and I have hard time putting it down when I get going with my reading.  I was surprised to find so much science surrounding the main characters, as well as magic, but I'm curious to see where the story goes.

That's about all from me on my end.
How are all of you tonight?
