Christmas Goodies

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!
Mine started on Christmas Eve.  I worked a closing shift that night, and while the lines were long, it wasn't too bad.  After work I headed over to my Dad's house to celebrate our Christmas.  Darla was already there with Andy's kids Melody and Ralphie, and Shirley had everyone set up with cookies.  After everyone had eaten, we opened presents: I got my Dad and Shirley gift cards for the movies and dinner and Cheesecake Factory; the kids I got them a donut maker; I gave Darla half of my gifts for her, baking supplies.  From everyone I got three books and two movies.  I stayed over at my Dad's after Darla and the kids left, and we flipped the tv between Family Guy, A Christmas Story and Star Wars (Spike had all six movies back to back).  I didn't end up leaving until around midnight, and was almost hit by a big rig on the way home, >.<  I'm getting a little tired of all these close-calls with car woes (I was a safe distance from the car in front of me, and a big rig in the lane next to me started to merge between us out of nowhere, the bed of his truck put me in his blind spot so he couldn't see me at all, so I pulled over to the shoulder to let him pass and then got back on the road).

Christmas day, I spent the morning in bed.  I knew I didn't have to be anywhere, so I slept in as long as I could.  When I did manage to get myself up and running, I headed over to my Grandma's house to see my Aunt DeeDee.  I didn't realize that my Uncle Fred and Aunt Debbie would still be there (my Aunt Debbie had flown in that morning from Ohio after seeing her family out there, and she and my Uncle Fred were going to fly out to Las Vegas that night).  I stayed there at the house until the evening, when I headed over to Darla's house to open presents and Skype with my Mom, Richard and their friends Ernie and Marie.  As my sister and I opened presents it started to rain-or, rather POUR-so I left a little after eating some ice cream and chatting with Darla.  There was a huge puddle right outside my car door and because I didn't think it was going to rain, I was wearing flip flops, so my feet were soaked as I drove home.  My drive home took longer than normal, there had been a pretty bad accident on the freeway.

My first office Christmas gift in the form of a Nintendo DSi, games and game cases.  Three of my friends, Carrie, Marissa and Sabrina all chipped in and got this for me for both Christmas and my birthday.  Carrie and Marissa want to get me hooked on the Pokemon games, because they are apparently addicting.

From Dad: Sorcerer's Apprentice (I *love* Jay Baruchel, and the tesla coil music sequence was my favorite part of this movie), 17 Again (which my Dad couldn't believe I wanted, but hey, it's a cute, funny movie), and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Girl Who Played with Fire.
From Darla: Garden Spells
From Sherry: Pictures in a photo album
nerhegeb  sent me tea and a Two Steps from Hell cd
orcapotter  sent the Disney World Key Chain
dragonsinger  sent me a Lady Claire and Andre Marek fanmix

And I want to give a big THANK YOU to you guys for the gifts and the cards!!!

From Mom: gifts cards to Target, Torrid and Borders. A doxie card from Toby (my Mom's doxie), frog shapped soap, Japanese sticky notes.  The Handy Manny and Mickey's Playhouse card was part of things my Mom picked up in France.

Tiana with frog Naveen ornament, Christmas penguin socks, M&M's, a Naruto box toy and bath and Body Works Japanese Cherry Blossom lotion.

During the last week of October and the first week of November, my Mom and Richard went to France with their friends DJ, Marie and Ernie.  The things she got Darla and me she wrapped in our Christmas box:

A read-a-long of The Little Mermaid in French.  I now want to take French lessons.

The Princess and the Frog storybook, in French.  My Mom said she wasn't sure how much I had really liked this movie until she saw the pictures I had taken of the day I took my plush Ray to Disneyland in a quest to find Tiana.  For those of you who haven't seen those pics, they are my work-in-progress art/photo journal.  You can find that post here: Ray's Disneyland Adventure.

My stepdad Richard picked out this scarf for me.

Some of the gifts were packed in this little tote bag.  If someone out there understands French, can you tell me what it says?  I understand the "I love" and "very much", but that's as far as my French goes.

When my Mom first told me she was going to France, I said I didn't care what she brought back for me, so long as there was something with a fleur de ___ on it.  Apparently, she and her friend Marie looked EVERYWHERE for something, but didn't find anything until the last day.  My Mom said she got a spoon and an Eiffle Tower for each of us.

A compact mirror.

MERMAID!
My Mom said that she didn't see many sea creature things there in France, but managed to find this  It's sooo cute!

Today has been another lazy day.  I work tomorrow, and after work it's Christmas with the P's.  We'll finally get to do our Secret Santa exchange.  And, speaking of Secret Santa, I have to get something for mine at work-although I think I already know what I'm getting them.

I hope you all had a great holiday and got everything you asked for and more!
Any cool gifts out there?

*Note:
No, I have no idea why there are two lj-cuts.  I've tried to figure our what I did, and can't find any reason for there to be two.  And I'm not going to try and fix it and mess everything else up.  I'm going to try not to let it bother me.  If anyone has trouble with the cuts, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

family, books, disney: the little mermaid, mermaid, disney: the princess and the frog, disney, movies, holiday: christmas
