A few friends and I went on what we affectionately called an "Epic Adventure" today. I had been having an itch to go somewhere or do something that wasn't around the neighborhood, and eventually settled on going to Santa Monica. It's a beach city about an hour away from home, not far from Hollywood/Los Angeles.
We hit the road at about 10:30ish and due to evil traffic on multiple freeways, we didn't arrive in Santa Monica until about 11:50am. Our first stop was a Harry Potter themed store called Whimsic Alley. We only had a limited time in the store since parking is a pain, and there was street sweeping where I did park (we parked at 12 and we had to move by 1).
From there we headed to Ye Olde King's Head...
King's Head is a British pub my friend at work told me about. They have some very yummy food.
We started wtih a scotch egg (a hard boiled egg wrapped in sausage meat and breaded) so that the one out of the three of us who hadn't tried it could. She Didn't like it.
For lunch a friend and I split breakfast. Toast (mine with orange marmalade), bacon, grilled tomato, banger, egg and English baked beans. It was very yummy. For dessert I had jam sponge pudding, but didn't take a picture of it. I was too hungry, lol.
We walked along the 3rd Street Promenade. There are always street musicians and plenty of vendors along the way. They have a few "dinos" hanging around in the fountains...
Then we came across this...

It took me a minute to figure it out. It's only one man bent over and walking on his hands. His legs are in the blue sailor and his arms are in the white. It was a little creepy at first, to be honest, but he was a pretty big hit.
This has to be the smallest aquarium, but it's so cute. Admission is only $2, and inside they have a few viewing tanks with local fish, sting rays, sharks and other sea life. There is one touch tank with starfish, sea cucumbers, sea snails and hermit crabs.
Mr. Eel says hello.
There were at least three in the tank, all curled up together in the back of the tank.
"Hey you, stop looking at me!"
Right as I was getting ready to take a picture of the eel, this fish decided to come and rest on the rock right above him.
We also encountered jellyfish...

...and shark eggs, also known a Mermaid Purses...

I'm very sorry for the poor quality video, but it was the best I could do. If you look close enough, you can see the baby shark in the left egg moving around. The one in the middle egg looks to be ready to hatch, and in the far right egg there was a baby in there, but it was super tiny so you can't see it.
Welcome to the Santa Monica Pier!
There is a roller coster, ferris wheel, boardwalk games and other goodies. People also go to the Pier to fish.
Hello Mr. Seagull.
The water was sooo pretty. The weather was really nice out, though my one friend was a tad upset about being out in the sun at the beach. I could have sat there at the end of the Pier all day just watching the water.
And that, was my epic Adventure.
