It shouldn't matter the size you are trying to fit into but, that you wear the correct size so you LOOK good. No one is looking at the tag but you :) The important thing is to be comfortable with who you are.
I know I may not have much room to talk as, I also have problem with my own weight. I gained a massive amount of weight within the last year and I recently just found out that I may have a thyroid problem (which, is what you should get checked for). I also have a hard time loosing weight no matter how hard I exercise or eat healthy, nothing works.
As far as not fitting in if you were to move to Japan, you wont. Being a foreigner in an Asian dominated country you will be different. It's just like if you were to go to any other country that is mainly dominated by one race.
From personal experience, I have "dated" (loosely as it was kind of a fling) a Japanese man (from Japan) and I am a size 14 (US) oh, and 5'8" to boot. Literally, him and another one of his friends was trying to impress me to win me over, I guess, lol. He told me that he likes different, most men do.
Anyway, I know you may delete my comment or whatever but, I just wanted to drop by and give you my advice.

That's what I worry about, not fitting in. But I don't fit in here either, so what the hell. :/ But there are many people from other countries and mixed/haffu people who fit/enjoy it there..so why not me, ya know?
They always check my thyroid and want to check it, but it always comes out negative, but sometimes I swear I have Thyroiditis. Or low-blood sugar/glucose. But nope, they say I don't, which frustrates me.
I'm 5'2" it's just my size/weight that bothers me -_-;

You shouldn't worry, just do you.
Honestly, at one point in everyone's life, they do not fit in. I don't fit in where I live, as I live in a small town. I am openly gay (I am not attracted to men although, I tried to be), style my hair and make-up on gyaru style as well as my clothing; I just try to be true to myself, and not to everyone else's ideals. You can enjoy yourself anywhere and eventually fit in but, you have to be willing to be more confident and happy with yourself. You do have an advantage, being shorter (I would stick out, lol!).
They may have to do a full panel test. There is a basic blood test but, a lot of time you have to request the full panel. You could have a hyperactive thyroid or thyroid cancer, who knows! It's best to get the more extensive one done.
My point wasn't my height, it was my size. I was a size 14 and I was still found attractive. Like I said, no one see the tag except you and no one sees the number on the scale, besides you. So, it shouldn't matter. I used to obsess over sizing but, now, i'd rather shop in the "big girl section" (and tailor the clothing to fit in the right places) and look slimmer as I am dressing for my size than trying to squeeze into a size too small and look larger. Who cares about size! You can always buy the right size and lie about it, no one will know anyway!
I know it is hard to hate your body so, just come to terms with it like I did. I may be proportioned but, i'm a size 18 and I am 240lbs, who cares? No one, you're are just putting too much on yourself.
This is my body, my thighs touch and yes, I am fat. I hope I give you some confidence :)
Re: New commenter here...pixyteriJune 25 2011, 04:38:15 UTC
You're not fat - at all.
I've had people tell me I'm plus size, which bothers me because I've never fit into plus size clothing. I've never been heavier than 170 lbs.
However, It's not easy at all for me to lose weight. And that's with working out and eating right when I can. Which is why I wonder about my thyroid, they asked me about it even back in high school. So..EEK I hope it's not thyroid cancer ;_;
I know I have a problem with the numbers - but it's not something I can easily break. It's been like that all my life, since I've never been the "ideal" size or "super tiny"...I've struggled. In my adult years, the smallest I've been is size 8. Which I'm trying to get back to...don't know, it just seemed to me the best size. Yet I still really like the way I look when numbers/measurements/weight doesn't come into play - sure, I could tone my belly, legs, and arms up more but for the most part, it's good.

Well, thank you for the compliments :) Also, to reply to the other comment you left, this was a recent picture so, sometimes being proportioned works to an advantage. When I was size 14 I looked like this:
compared to a "modeling" photo at size 18:
(sorry to spam your LJ, I just wanted to show you)
You can def tell, yes I gained weight but, I am comfortable with my body :) Just take some pictures of yourself where you are comfortable with your body. It will make you feel better! If I can go from 175 to 240 in a year and a half and be confident, so can you!
You can tone, which, will give you the illusion of slimness without the weight loss. A lot of "plus-sized" models can be size 16 but, they look toned because, they follow a fitness routine. Just practice not stressing out over size and weight, you'll start to feel better about yourself :)

Cool pix. Well, I'm a size 10/12 wanting to get to a size 8....and I'm not near that weight range, not saying my weight, but yeah. thanks for the encouragement, I am comfortable now but I just want to be smaller - it's a personal goal and I want to see it through!
