Wow, it took me quite a while to get around to posting everything from Ikkicon due to my hiatus! Sorry about that.
First off, here are my photos from Ikkicon 5 for those who are interested:
Pixyteri's Ikkicon Photos! Second, for a small convention, it was a lot of fun. The hotel was great, spacious, and in functioning order. It also had a sushi bar located within it, and was close to other places to eat and chill. Although I did make the mistake of parking in the hotel parking garage and paying $20 for not even parking a full day. So I changed my parking to a $5 parking space a few blocks down. A bit more of a walk, but much cheaper.
Austin really had a great feel to it. Before the convention, I spent time with my brother and his boyfriend. Check this out, this is their salt water aquarium:
Really beautiful, and we ate out at a local Austin restaurant called Cheddars I think.
So, Friday! I wore Chun-li. The costume looked great...there were some issues with the tights, because I couldn't find a good quality pair of tights in time to layer it..(You can see the darker tone at the top, that was the issue.) First off, I talked with con security and they were super helpful and supportive. Thank you for that!
Then I had some very nice girls come to meet me and say they were big fans of my work and hug me/take pictures with me. That really made me smile.
Sey, I think! <33 She had a Hetalia panel I couldn't attend! I'm sorry :/ They wouldn't let me in.
A really cool Ryu and I pretend fighting. I think he has the upper hand XD
Peanut Butter Jelly time?
I took some awesome photos in Chun-li as well with some talented photographers at Ikkicon. I can't wait to see what they look like! I didn't wear it for too long, I actually tried on a Kagome cosplay and decided to stay wearing it - I didn't want to change back into Chun-li (AKA I didn't want to put my hair back in buns haha!)
YAY Kagome without her Shikon Jewel or Sacred arrow/bow. I'll have to do a photoshoot wearing this sometime, I even have a bike with a basket I could use.
Aww I like this photo! Me with an Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru cosplayer!
I wore my ko-furisode and hakama New Year's...Friday night. I didn't get any photos in it..I'm not sure, but a few people snapped some pictures. But I was mainly at the sushi bar while wearing it, I met an awesome couple who I talked with for a bit. They bought me a drink (Sake) and we shared sushi - octopus and eel. Very delicious, oishii!
I think I drank a bit too much, however I had a lot of fun. Changed into my Kagome outfit for the rave. The rave was a blast, I love dancing.
Saturday was good. I wore Tifa (FF7)...I didn't get any photos of me wearing it on my camera, oddly, but other people got photos with me. I had a bit of a sad spot because of a past issue, I suppose. But I met a really nice cosplayer who cosplayed from Vampire Knight (He bit my neck while I was wearing Tifa! *blush*) and then later changed into Cloud from Advent Children to compliment my Tifa cosplay. I think he was a bit of a flirt, though. Haha! We went to met Johnny Young Bosch as well. I got his autograph on my badge, and told him....a few of my opinions concerning Bleach. He said "Rukia, why do your drawings suck so much?" to me. Pretty epic!
I got a photo with him, but "Cloud" had them on his camera. Hm...I later changed into a simple school uniform for comfort. I didn't go to the convention on Sunday, because I wanted to spend time with my brother and his boyfriend Stephen. But the rave was fun, and I saw a few people from town :P Who ignored me yipee XD
Though there were quite a lot of attractive men, no such luck in that department. (Forever Alone?)
Also! I tried Tobiko for the first time, or fish egg roe sushi.
Here's an image! Another that's not quite my favorite. I'll have it lightly scattered on the sushi, but in a big pile, it's quite different, and pretty crunchy. I wanted to try Uni, but it was not available..so tobiko it was!
It was difficult to fully enjoy the convention without staying at the hotel, but I managed! I was also really flattered when con security thought I was with YaYaHan as a cosplay guest. WOW I wish right?
On Sunday, Kris, Stephen, and I went to Sushi Zushi. It had amazing menu options, and they actually greet you in Japanese. It was very cool. It was expensive, but well worth it.
Tempura Udon. Delicious Japanese comfort food. Very, very filling. I adore the fish cake/kamaboko
Squid, or Ika. I was not very fond of it, to be honest. I prefer tako. This one was more flavorless and quite more squishy.
My favorite, mochi ice creams. Red bean, chocolate, and strawberry.
I wanted to get Sukiyaki..after watching Pretty Sammy and other anime I always thought of it as the height of luxury, and a celebratory meal! Of course it was $60~ Kris said maybe one time later we can share it together.
Anyway...I'm not too sure what else to write about. I enjoyed Ikkicon! I wish I socialized more though! Drat my being shy..or maybe others being shy!! Hah!
Also, if you were one of the photographers that took photos of me, let me know. I want to see the photos you took. :) And post them as well! I'd appreciate it. (Or if you know any of the photographers or have found them on the interwebs, that'd be helpful too. Thank you.)
