A small review post for my new favorite Disney film. It was so good, it drove me to tears. Not only that, but I related with quite a few things Rapunzel went through. I'll maybe go into that more, but let me start by saying this movie is fantastic. I recommend anyone who's a fan of Disney, fairy tales, or just really good animated features to see this film! :)
It brings back the old Disney, combining it with new CG graphics that will amaze you. The story is old Disney while still being very comedic and appealing. Plus, the underlying story and sadness Rapunzel experiences is *amazing*!
(If you don't want to be spoiled, I'd advice you not to watch or read much further..the videos are a tad bit spoilery but not totally..watch at your own discretion!)

Japanese Rapunzel Trailer
Anyway, so my favorite parts of the film:
*When Rapunzel finally got to the Kingdom, lead the villagers in dance, and got her hair braided (Gorgeous!)
*When Rapunzel finally got to see the lights that were for her, the lost princess
*When Rapunzel realized who she was, that she was the lost princess and Mother Gothel was not her real mother
*THE HAIR CUT!!!!! Amazing epic scene!!! When I buy the DVD I can't wait to watch that again. Flynn (Eugene) cut her binding, blonde hair and her real hair/nature came to be. Rapunzel actually is a brunette, and has hair very similar to Yuna's from Final Fantasy X/X-2 (PRobably more like Gunner...does anyone else see that?) So what if her hair was "prettier" blonde and long? She is now losing her bindings, knowing who she is/where she belongs, and has her true hair that does NOT heal.
*The end where she meets her real parents, and is with her man!
I seriously cried at the end. :) It was really good. And how do I relate to it, you ask? Well...I used to have fake blonde hair that was bleached. Now I'm more of my real self...I still have long hair, but it's dark brown, how it is intended to be, and supposed to be. I've also felt the pain of longing for something/to know something that is far away. I desperately want to go to Japan. I also have a bit of a....problem with being able to move out/be on my own. Heh.
I also lol'd at people on Youtube saying Mother Gothel had the best intentions of a loving mother when she 1) Kept her "daughter" locked in a tower and 2) Used her for her healing hair and 3) Insulted and was generally psychologically controlling.
Anyway! I have a headache! Thanks for checking this out.
