If I don't get involved in some sort of interactive writing challenge community, I'm never going to write again.  And there you have it.

Somebody help me.

In other, better news, I have two new animals.  They bring me joy.  :D

I wish I could have one, but for now I'll settle on watching pics and gifs of other people's hedgehogs.

I was surprised too...
About "being worth paying for", look, a few months ago I read a short story called "Brothers without Borders" by Leiland Dale, and it reminded me of that story of forbidden attraction between brothers you wrote many years ago, that WIP (The incest idea is old as fuck, but it is still enticing no matter how many times it has been written!), and let me tell you that, although BWB was somewhat entertaining, yours was definitely the one worth paying for AND keeping, in comparison. BWB needed heavy, heavy editing.

So much stuff barely above teenage fanfiction level gets published these days. I like having a lot to choose from, but few have a decent level of coherence and quality. For people whose writing quality has already being honed a bit, he real effort is not finishing a piece, it is not being so damn perfectionist and realize it is better to "keep going, you'll edit again later with more perspective". I know that feeling too well.

That being said, I hope you find a group in which you feel comfortable and motivated, because you do seem to need the whipping and the candy. ; D

She's really cute. And very prickly. XD I'd never buy one of these because I'd feel guilty. Some animals shouldn't be pets - they're not domesticated and it just feels wrong. But she was a rescue situation and since she's already been kept, I couldn't turn her down. I'm committed to making her comfortable and trusting. As evidenced by my willingness to feed her live worms (which also makes me feel bad).

*Siiiiiiiigh* You have no idea how much I'd love to finish that series. The third and final book is just a bunch of notes scribbled here and there, but the feel of the story is still very present for me. I agree that the brotherly love thing never gets old. It's one of my favorites. I appreciate the compliment, too, really. And you're right. When I read something that reads better than Stephanie Meyer, I'm actually excited. How sad is that? So much mediocrity anymore - and such praise for it!

Ugh, the edits and re-writes and more editing - I am so guilty of this. Even though I know that any writer worth her salt will tell you NOT to fall into that old trap.

I just miss talking about writing, you know? Brainstorming and what-ifs and the fun in collaboration. What started me thinking about this is when a friend of mine sent me a really short little piece of flash fiction. I agreed to edit and critique for him and it was just so good to talk about it again. It almost made me want to write something, myself.
