2009 retrospective
The readers of this blog know perhaps better than anyone else what a rough year 2008 was for me. In fact it was pretty terrible for some of you, too. Ive been going back and reading some of my blog entries from last year at around this time, if only to gauge how far ive come since then, and how much better life is. I found this survey i filled out about 2008 and felt like i should go back and fill it out again in reference to the past year.
1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
LOTS OF THINGS YOU PROBABLY DONT WANT TO KNOW ABOUT. LETS JUST SAY ITS BEEN A GREAT YEAR FOR SEX!
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I RESOLVED TO SIMPLIFY MY LIFE. AND I DID. IM SURE ILL MAKE ONE FOR 2010 WHEN THE MOMENT IS RIGHT.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
I THINK RUTH AND ANNA BOTH HAD EARLY 2009 BABIES.

5. What countries did you visit?
I RAN SCREAMING HOME FROM NEWCASTLE IN FEBRUARY. IVE PRETTY MUCH BEEN IN GEORGIA EVER SINCE. CEPT FOR THAT TRIP TO SEE THE FAM IN OHIO!
6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
AN AWESOME JOB DOING WHAT I LOVE THAT PAYS AT LEAST HALF OF WHAT MY TIME IS ACTUALLY WORTH.
7. What dates from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
VALENTINES DAY, CAUSE THATS WHEN I RETURNED TO ATLANTA. JUNE 3RD, CAUSE THATS WHEN MATT AND I FINALLY ENDED FOR GOOD. JUNE 11TH CAUSE I HAD AN AWESOME BIRTHDAY. THERE WAS A NIGHT IN JULY WHEN ALEX AND I CELEBRATED HALLOWEEN TOGETHER BY THROWING CANDY AT HIPSTERS IN EAST ATLANTA. LABOR DAY WEEKEND WAS THE BEST DRAGON CON TO DATE. SEPTEMBER 26TH WAS AN EPIC NIGHT ON THE TOWN. HALLOWEEN NIGHT ROCKED HARD ENOUGH TO MAKE UP FOR HOW LAME LAST HALLOWEEN WAS AND THEN SOME.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
EITHER WRITING OVER 20 THOUSAND WORDS OR BEING SINGLE FOR MORE THAN 2 MONTHS FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE HIGH SCHOOL.
9. What was your biggest failure?
GOING INSANE AND COMING HOME FROM ENGLAND EARLY. I REALIZE I HAD GOOD REASONS FOR COMING HOME AND I STILL DONT REGRET IT ENTIRELY BUT...IF ID ONLY STAYED THROUGH THE END I COULD HAVE SEEN AN ORBITAL CONCERT ON MY BIRTHDAY.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I DID BUST MY ASS CLIMBING A WATERFALL ON THE 4TH OF JULY AND ENDED UP WITH A ROCK STUCK UNDER THE SKIN ON THE BOTTOM OF MY FOOT. OTHER THAN THAT, NOTHING A GIANT VAT OF CHICKEN SOUP COULDNT HEAL.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
2 PAIRS OF DOC MARTENS, A NEW LAPTOP, AND ART SUPPLIES.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
CERTAINLY NOT MINE. IVE BEEN KIND OF A BAD GIRL THIS YEAR. ILL BE SURPRISED IF I GET MORE THAN A LUMP OF COAL FOR CHRISTMAS.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

WELL, I SPENT THE DAY FISHING ON THE LAKE WITH MY DAD AND A FEW FRIENDS. THEN LATER DAD, ALEX, AND I BEGAN OUR TRADITION OF PLAYING LEAGUE POKER TOGETHER. AT SOME POINT I BLACKED OUT FROM DRINKING TOO MUCH MAKERS MARK AND APPARENTLY MADE QUITE AN ASS OF MYSELF. GO TEAM VENTURE!

JUST ONE TRIP TO THE BEACH.

i have come to the conclusion that you dont really ever know anybody, and anyone worth knowing is constantly changing and growing with every experience. to try and take that away from anyone is a crime. i know true love exists, but not in the way we were all taught. it is for the moment, and does not last forever. just cause you find it doesnt mean it will always be there or should be taken for granted.
