Up every evening, 'bout half-eight or nine, gonna pay attention to a very good friend of mine.

As I explained to paxgermanica last night (between reciting The Moon's words of wisdom, discussing the return episode of Spicks and Specks and going OMG!KADE), I feel cheated. While searching through youtube for Boosh-related videos, I happened upon a two scenes (one from Tundra and another from Hitcher) that were most certainly not played in the versions ( Read more... )

I personally thought Big Fish outshone C+TCF, by heaps. Then again, I'd just lost my father and the sentimentality was gushing a-plenty. The 'Charlie...' score was great but the vocals of the songs seemed a little lost in the mix. Good stuff though.

Anyway, thanks for getting me onto Garth Marenghi's. Saw Skipper the Eyechild the other week and loved it. Shades of Micallef's lawyer/TV star character... oh god, why can't I remember his name??? And we've been rewatching all our Booshes on tape and have fallen in love with Lucien/Dixon. Best. Voice. Ever.

I don't recall his name but I believe I know what you mean. The Micallef sketch that I will NEVER forget, which may have been on Full Frontal I think, is the "cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat caaaat" one. Ah, classic times.

If you like Matt Berry, go to youtube.com and do a search for "AD/BC: A Rock Opera" (I'd get the link but I can't be bothered). It's a rock opera (as the title should suggest) Berry wrote about the nativity, much the same style as Marenghi, as he's playing a character, playing a character. Julian Barratt, Noel Fielding, Rich Fulcher, Julia Davis (though I can't STAND her), Matt Lucas (AH. New Little Britain next Wednesday, I'm psyched), and the DIVINE Richard Ayoade all make appearances. I've only seen the beginning of it, but what I did see was fantastic.

Also, Richard Ayoade has the best. Voice. Ever! Matt Berry's is amusing, noted. But Ayoade's is just pure, aural wonder! 'Specially in the radio Boosh, as Tommy Nooka. Oh my, that man is brilliance.

Now you've got me going through YouTube for clips from the Boosh. Although I'm fairly sure that I saw the 'Cars' bit on TV.

God I wish I had the DVD. I've looked at their store on the website, but I'm not sure if they accept International Orders.

No, you misunderstand (and I know I am right about this). The bit with them singing to Cars was cut after Ivan the Hairy Russian Carpet Guy says 'in cars' when it screened here. But then there's about another twenty seconds of them singing to the song, and Howard and Vince are doing a strange dance and nearly run off the road. Those last 20 or so seconds were definitely not included when it screened here, because I taped them and watch them ever other day (by 'them' I mean when they first screened at night, and then when they repeated them Wednesday afternoons). It's the same with the part with the travel sweets. After Vince says "I've heard of rice crispies" it cut to Howard saying "this journey's going to fly by..." but there's actually this whole part with Vince chewing on a snake with his eyes half closed, "eh, Howard! That's how turtles eat!" and THEN Howard says "this journey's going to fly by ( ... )

I still reckon I saw the 'How Turtles Eat' bit when I saw it screened. Although I can't remember if this was the first round, or second round that SBS showed. But I'm fairly sure that I'd seen it in the context of the actual show. Hrmmm.

And I'm incredibly tempted to buy it off Amazon. I'm fairly sure that our DVD player plays multiple regions, but I'd have to check...

I swear I'd never seen That's How Turtles eat either of the times it screened, and I have it on tape from the first round, so it has to have been cut at least once.

Apparently the DVDs themselves are Region 2 and 4, so they play for us! Wikiiid.
I just don't have any money.
