ロックバンド・L’Arc～en～Cielのボーカル・HYDE率いるVAMPSが主催するハロウィンイベント『NIGHTMARE OF HALLOWEEN』が10月31日（金）、東京・Zepp Tokyoで開催され、スペシャルゲストとしてGacktが登場。ライブ初共演となるHYDEとGacktは、それぞれ花嫁衣裳と軍服衣装のコスプレを披露。さらにDAIGO率いるBREAKERSや土屋アンナらもハロウィン仕様の仮装で出演し、一夜限りの仮装パーティーを盛り上げた。
メイドやゴスロリ姿などハロウィンムード一色に染まった観客が埋め尽くす会場で、トップバッターを務めたBREAKERSは、おバカユニット・羞恥心の 衣装を着こなし、彼らのデビュー曲「羞恥心」をカバー。続いて登場した土屋アンナは映画『下妻物語』の白百合イチゴ役でみせたレディース衣裳で観客を魅了 した。
トリを飾ったVAMPSのHYDEは、“墓地から生き返った花嫁”をイメージした血のり付きのウェディングドレス姿を披露。ファンから「かわいい～」と いう黄色い声援が飛ぶと、「なんか（こういう格好が）好きみたい。癖になるね」と腰を振りながら“女性らしさ”をアピール。デビュー曲「LOVE ADDICT」を含む全10曲をギター・K.A.Zの激しいサウンドに乗せながら熱唱した。
アンコールを受けたステージでは出演者が一堂に会し、この日限りのセッションを実施。 スペシャルゲストとしてGacktも駆けつけ、HYDEと熱い抱擁 を交わす。2003年に公開された映画『MOON CHILD』で共に初主演を果たした2人だが、ライブでは初の共演。ラストの曲となったモトリー・クルーのヒット曲「Shout at the devil」では、HYDEがボーカルを務め、Gacktが公の場では初となるドラム演奏で1年に1度の祭典を締めくくっていた。HYDE & Gackt cosplaying in their first LIVE performance together

The Halloween event "NIGHTMARE OF HALLOWEEN" by VAMPS - (a band) led by HYDE, the vocalist of rock band L'arc~en~ciel - was held on October 31 at ZEPP Tokyo, with Gackt making an appearance as a special guest. In their first LIVE performance together, HYDE and Gackt revealed their cosplays by appearing in a wedding dress and military uniform respectively. In addition, BREAKERS (led by DAIGO) and Anna Tsuchiya among others also performed in their halloween costumes, stirring up that one-night-only costume party.
Within the venue that was filled with spectators uniformly dyed with the mood of Halloween in their maid and Goth-Lolita costumes, BREAKERS as top batters wore the costumes of the OBAKA Unit {1} 羞恥心 and sang a cover of their debut song 「羞恥心」. Following that Anna Tsuchiya appeared and charmed the audience by wearing the ladies dress that she wore when she played the role of Ichigo Shirayuri in the movie 『Kamikaze Girls (wiki)』.
HYDE of VAMPS did the funky chicken livened up the final song (of the event) to an amazing high {2} by appearing in a bloody wedding dress and bringing across the image of "a bride who climbed up from her grave". The fans responded in shrill shouts as they cheered "Kawaii~(cute)" to which (Hyde responded) "Somehow I think I like (this appearance). This might become a habit ne" as he swayed his hips while (displaying) his feminine appeal. All 10 songs including the debut song "LOVE ADDICT" were sung enthusiastically while riding on the intense sound of K.A.Z's guitar.
Upon receiving (calls) for an encore, everyone gathered together on the stage and made that one-night-only session a reality. Special guest Gackt also came running on stage and exchanged passionate hugs with HYDE. This is the first time these 2 (artistes) who co-starred together in the 2003 movie "MOONCHILD" are performing together during a live. This once-a-year festival was brought to an end with the final hit song by Mötley Crüe, "Shout at the devil" where HYDE provided the vocals and Gackt performed his first ever public drums performance.
{1} 羞恥心 (Shuchishin, Japanese for "shame") is a music group where three obaka talent guys who were put together by the host of the game show they were on. Obaka talent refers to people who speak unsteadily or give weird answers to a quiz show due to their lack of knowledge, and thus make a talent break to become an idol.

NIGHTMARE OF HALLOWEEN」には、VAMPSとMONORALが両日出演し、30日はTommy heavenly6とAcid Black Cherry、31日は土屋アンナとBREAKERZがゲストで出演。会場には思い思いの仮装姿で身を包んだ約2700人のファンが集まった。
31 日は、BREAKERZのヴォーカル・DAIGOが司会進行を担当。トリを務めたVAMPSは墓場から死者が生き返ったという設定の元、HYDEが血痕の ついたウエディングドレス姿で、K.A.Zが烏を肩に乗せて映画「THE CROW」の主人公の姿で登場すると、観客からは悲鳴のような歓声が上がった。

VAMPSは2009年1月7日、10万人を動員した全国ZEPPツアー「VAMPS LIVE 2008」のライブDVDを発売。来春には、待望のセカンドシングルを発売する。そしてGacktは12月3日に約1年半振り、28作めのマキシシングル 「Jesus」を発売。12月14日からは43都市52公演の全国ツアー「Gackt Live Tour 2008-2009 Requiem et Reminiscence II ～再生と邂逅～」を開催する。
