we've been back from cali for a bit now & the trip was nice, but i'm not ready to be back.
this morning, after a long night of me not sleeping, anjolie woke up at like 5-something. ugh. we're battling the jet lag still though, so i figured i'd let her stay up, take an early nap, and hopefully get back on normal bedtime schedule (8/9pm).
notsomuch.
at 8:30ish am, anjolie was stepping off a 6" high (at most) step she'd pushed over to me (so she could hold my ear while i checked my email). she turned on it & went to step off... and promptly fell on her face. full force into the hardwood.
she pushed up screaming & her mouth was a bloodied mess. i scooped her into the bathroom & wiped away the blood enough to see that not only had she busted up/skinned her top lip, but she'd knocked one of her front teeth crooked. UGHH!!!
so i take her to the ER & start calling dentists. i have a few calls in by the time i leave the ER, but hadn't heard back. the pediatrician in the ER said there wasn't much he or i could do beyond what i'd done (motrin, ice) & gave me a list of dentists in the area.
i was able to get her in by 2pm to a pediatric dentist just up the street. they took xrays and determined that the root was okay, the tooth was in no immediate danger of falling out, and the adult tooth will come in safely. there isn't really anything to do about the fact that it's now pushed back a bit, but he seemed to think that with her still using the binky at night it may straighten out considerably in the next few days. so take THAT all the people who harass me cuz she still uses it lol. the other possibility is that it may turn dark from the trauma. *sigh*
so the rest of the day was spent cuddled up eating popsicles, pudding, and yogurt between naps. popsicles are a godsend for fat lips. all the anti-inflammatory joys of ice without the tears & struggle of icepacks. the swelling went down considerably, & the tooth doesn't look horrible... it was just so perfect before that it makes me wanna cry. i am a far bigger wreck about it than she is. she's beautiful no matter what, but it's MY BABY'S FACE!
*sigh* the "longer" one is the injured one. and that whole side of her upper lip.
there's a bunch more i need to put in this, but i am not up to typing it all out just yet. soon though.
ps. someone should buy me
this. it would me me smile lots. hehe.
